GENDER SCANS - WAS YOURS RIGHT?

I had a scan this week - told I was having a girl. 2 weeks ago, different sonographer said boy. My friend was told all the way through it was a girl, and at 38 weeks was told it was a boy (correctly). Does anyone else have any more stories like this?

I was told I was havng a girl at the 20 week scan and I didn't ask again. So my son gave us all a bit of a shock when he arrived as I'd told all the medics it was a girl - the midwife shouted ' oo look, he's got a willy' and rushed out to tell dh there was a problem. He fainted.

Please don't tell me they can get it wrong at 20 weeks! I stopped asking after that, and no one told me, and I have chosen a name, and a boy is going to freak my husband out horribly. And I must watch musicals with my child!

ds1- was told he was a boy at 12 week scan- correct.
ds2- was told he was a boy at 20week scan- correct again.

And ecstatic both times!

Heh, plus we have more than a few photos of ds looking discomfited in the pink babygros I'd bought...at least we stopped arguing about girl's names

I had lots of scans due to high spina bifida risk; 17 weeks (1/2 hour detailed scan) they said a girl, 20 weeks (another 1/2 hour detailed scan with a different specialist) a girl, 24 weeks didn't ask, 28 weeks (they went and got a second opinion) they decided it was a boy.

I'm told that they're more likely to get it wrong by saying it's a girl if they can't see any obvious boy bits and that once they've spotted that it's a boy, that's usually right. They say it's 95% correct, but that leaves 1/20 wrong.

We now have quite a few really sweet girls outfits that I've refused to let dp dress ds in (he was kinda disappointed as he has 4 boys from a previous relationship!). And my midwife commented that ds isn't exactly lacking in the tackle department so I figure they just weren't looking very hard at all.

loving the stories!!!!! Having another scan on Monday - a private one this time - with (get this) Dr Kreuger...... I need to know as this is the third, we're due to move about a month after the birth and I need to know which baby clothes to accept from friends (got rid of all others as we weren't having any more.... famous last words!) Would love to hear more 'hiding the willy' stories if anyone has any!

at ds1's 20 week, they had to wait a bit before they could be sure as he had both hands 'cupped' over his tackle- lol

I was told at a 12 week scan I was having a boy, and then I was told at a 16 week scan it was a girl. So now, I am waiting until the 22 weeks to hopefully be told what I am having!

Hi

Ds1 I was told boy at 20 week scan and 26 week 3D scan - had a boy - very obvious on scan

Currently pg again, could see another clear appendage at 12 weeks scan and doctor said boy (with pressure from us), confirmed 3 days later for sure after cvs.

I think boys are pretty obvious as long as they have a look between the legs!

didn't have one with first. Second was told it was a girl but didn't believe them (it was a girl!)

Hi. I've recently had my 20 week scan and was told the baby was a girl. This is our first child and my husband and I have already started buying girly things as were over the moon to have a little healthy baby.I did not see any boy 'bits' on the scan and 'her' legs were wide open plus the sonographer ( at Queen Charlottes and Chelsea) seemed very condifent . I'm now being told all sorts of stories in respect of hospitals getting the gender wrong and have also been told that its easier to get a 'girl' scan wrong as various bits may be hiding. id like to buy clothes etc in the january sales as im due in March.Might even go for a 4D scan to confirm. Does anyone know how accurate hospital scans are ( especially at Queen Charls). Your comments would be kindly appriciated.
