Im almost 9 weeks and have been feeling ropey for the last few weeks with morning, AKA, all day nausea. The problem now is that im really struggling to drink anything, yesterday i had a long day at work, spent 5 hours on trains, but over the whole day i managed half of a 500ml bottle of water.

I know its not good but really cant stomach fluids at the moment, has anyone got any tips for drinks that might sit a little better please?

About all I can manage is cold-from-the-fridge water. Everything else gives me acid reflux and I end up being sick.

Posted too early...

Could you try slices of watermelon? I find that really refreshing and because it's so watery you get the fluids. I have a slice most mornings Smile

It's about the only fruit that doesn't give me acid... apart from banana.

Have you tried soda water? I found it was one of the few things I could stomach during horrendous morning sickness with dd?

Ice pops? Or just normal ice? Awful stage of pregnancy... Flowers

I know exactly what you mean.

I found ice lollies a good way to get fluids in (and a bit of sugar)
I agree with watery fruit also like watermelon and I loved some cucumber.

I am still struggling to drink much but am finding that hot herbal tea is working (camomile or mint) as I have to sip it and so iget hydrated but don't drink enough to feel sick.

I found fizzy drinks also easier in the early days of nausea (again because I couldn't drink them too fast) in particular, ginger ale, root beer and de-caffeinated coke.

Have you tried posted on the hyperemesis thread? They will have some good advice there too

gentle hugs anyway, the full on all day nausea is hard. If it goes on, you could consider going to the GP for meds too

SG (am 15+1 and it has got better)

Ice lollies/ice pops are great. Especially if you get ones that aren't full of sugar (though I nearly threw DH through the window when he dared bring home "real orange" lollies when all I wanted was E numbers, bless him).

Does it help if you drink through a straw? At least then you can just take little sips.

I'm 22 weeks with all day sickness still.I just drink eat Ican iI can't stomach water or juice the only thing I drink is freezing cold tons of diet coke and I literally live on them. Find something you can drink like sparkling flavoured water etc

kbro79 · 30/07/2015 16:25

Agree with ice lollies and water melon. They were a life saver in earlier pregnancy. Also give elderflower squash a go. A few people on here suggested on other posts and I found it really worked. Is a lot less acidic than other fruit squashes but easier to get down than water.

Hope you feel better soon. That part of pregnancy is horrible!!

LilyRose16 · 30/07/2015 16:53

Awww thanks everyone, really appreciate your kind words and advice!

I will try watermelon, soda water and some elderflower squash, havent tried any of them yet. Oh and ice lollies, never thought of them! Thank you Smile

I had tried ginger beer but now just makes me too acidy, same with sparkling water, but will try soda water.

When I had norovirus I couldn't keep any liquid down (let alone food) I threw up even the tiniest sip. Ice lollies saved me!

chopsface · 30/07/2015 18:13

I couldn't stomach water, it needed to be 'thicker' like juice or smoothies. Although I read that juices aren't good for hydration. Hot fruit tea is good and yes ice lollies. Good luck finding something that works :-)

I could drink nothing but fizzy water until about 30 weeks. Try that?

Doublebubblebubble · 30/07/2015 19:32

I have had hg in all of my pregnancies and I've always been told that as long as you're passing water weeing You should be okay. Its easier said than done but everytime I was sick (this pregnancy) I would just down another (pint) of whatever it was that I was drinking - if I bought that up I would down another pint and keep going like that for about 10 minutes every hour. Just so that something was going in. It might be disgusting to you at the moment but Canadian ginger ALE (it isn't sparkling) can help... I could tolerate from about 18 weeks (hg always stops at 18 weeks for me) x good luck xx
