Think my waters are going....anyone awake?

Think my waters are going!! Had a pain in my belly and then my pj bottoms were quite full, like I peed myself. Small, very small trickles still.

This is my second pregnancy and my waters went on toilet late into labour on my first, so this is new.
Phoned labour ward for advice and they said I can come in now or wait but don't wait later than half 6 in morning. Not sure why as she said it's there they will book for induction if I don't go naturally?

Any experience or advice welcome please?

Thank you xx

Only thing I can think of is don't they like to see you within four hours of waters going? Due to infection risk. I could be totally wrong but I'm
Sure that's what I was told.

Hello! I'm awake, I'm doing a night shift. My waters went in dribbles rather than all at once. I went in a couple of hours after but that was more because the contractions were coming quite quickly. Excited for you! Smile

Thank you bwow.
I thought it was to do with infection and asked if there was any risk and she said no but that I need to come in by half 6. Xx

Thank you also thegirlwiththearabatrap!!

I feel very nervous all of a sudden and like I am not ready!!
Ha ha...
Although hoping contractions start naturally as would rather not be induced.

How long for you until contractions started?
I know everyone is different. Xx

I think they will check you out and then send you home if everything is ok. As your waters have gone you generally have 24hrs to deliver and if you haven't they will induce you due to risk of infection. I think that part of going in is so they can get you booked in, in case you do need to be induced.

Good luck OP Smile

Janine, I think that is precisely what the lady was saying!!
I always thought it was 24 hours that you have to labour, due to risk of infection.
I am nervous!! Had a funny feeling this labour would start very differently to my first!

My contractions had been coming intermittently for a few hours but after my waters started to go they speeded up quite quickly. I think my waters went about 3.30pm and I was in hospital by 6.30pm and DS was born at 9.15pm. It was all pretty quick!

That is quick thegirl....
Was that first pregnancy?

It's so nice to have people up to talk to!! Our daughter was up at 3 with a really bad cough and lovely husband sent me into her room to sleep.
I am now leaving them sleep while nothing happens and having a cup of tea in my daughters bed!!! ???? xx

Congratulations Smile Same slow leak thing happened to me 6 weeks ago, only difference was baby had poo-ed so waters were green tinged. This can be a sign that the baby's in distress so I was taken in and induced immediately.

Congratulations Lulu on your recent new born!!
Hope all ok?

Without TMI, waters are still trickling slowly and are yellow tinged which I have read is fine.
Will wait until 6 to make a move I think xxx

Yes he was my first. I was taken by surprise as he was a week early. I was bouncing around the swimming pool doing an aqua natal class that morning. I think I bounced him out. Hope everything goes smoothly for you today.

Bit of a waiting game starting now I feel....
Hopefully all will go well.
I am having period cramps so hopefully that's a positive sign too.
Thank you girls for being there for me tonight xxxxxx

Are you wearing a maternity pad? They will ask to see it to check the colour. Make sure you keep it. A friend's admittance was delayed because she threw her pad away before the midwives could examine her...

Justyouwaitandsee yes, I am wearing a maternity pad.
I had read to do this before but anti ward tonight told me to leave same one on unless it's saturated, so will do so.
Thank you for that! Xx

No worries - the last thing you want is any unnecessary delay. Good luck with it - not long now until you meet your little one! Grin

Hi all, came to hospital at about 7 and been on a monitor since.
Having very mild period pain like contractions fairly irregularly.....

They have examined me and will re examine me at 1 and if contractions are no stronger, I'll be induced and they have put the drip in ready!!! ????
Xxxx

How exciting.

My waters broke first with both of mine. With my first, contractions started straight away and were close together, lasting 2 minutes (slow build, yeah right Grin) and DD was born 31hrs later. With my second contractions started immediately but were completely different (registering as strong and regular on a monitor but didn't hurt at all oddly). DS finally entered the world 38 hours later...

The leaking waters is weird. I had huge initial gushes but then the leaking afterwards was constant. You get fed up with being damp. Maternity pads almost hold enough but then you move and get another gush and your trousers are ruined again. If you labour for long enough, it slows right down and suddenly you realise you're no longer leaking water. Once that happened, I found that I had quite a few bloody shows and the MW reassured me that it was the cushion of water being gone. Don't be alarmed if that happens.

Best of luck. I hope you get your wish not to be induced but I know zillions of positive induction stories so even if it happens, try not to worry. Have you any thoughts about whether you might like an epidural? Have they mentioned how many anaesthetists are around? Sometimes the induction can be a bit more intense than natural delivery and you might want to explore that option earlier if you were considering it?

Is your 3yo aware that she's about to be a big sister?

Thank you Saul.
I hope it goes well if I am induced.... Hoping it will happen naturally before then.

Didn't have any pain relief on my first daughter. Think I will see how it goes and potentially what if anything is advised by midwives and go from there xxx
