Spotting at 6 wks and off to NY tomorrow - help!

I'm only 6 weeks and last night found small amount of red watery blood when wiping (and ONLY when wiping). DH and I panicked and went to A&E, who referred us on to Gynie, who were hopeless and sent us home after speaking to us over the phone saying there was nothing they would or could do.

Emergency doctor this morning said the tiny trace (by now dark brown, not red) is nothing to worry about and as long as it's not as bad as or worse than a period I am fine to fly (heading to NY to stay with best friend for five days; has been planned for a year).

I want to believe him, of course, but I want to do the right thing. I'm not really in any pain, boobs still tingly off and on, still a bit nauseous.

Anyone got any thoughts?

there is nothing to be done at this gestation...an early scan would show a sac, possibly not a heartbeat...usually can be seen 7 + weeks.......brown blood is old blood

if no cramps, clots or pain..then i think you have to go with it and enjoy your break

i had spotting and bleeding at 6,7 & 10 weeks..and all through first pregnancy..he is 7 now!!!!!

relax and the holiday should take your mind off it...make sure you have travle insurance in case you need to see a doc ( god forbi) while you are out there.....

odds are ., all should be well ..fingers and toes crossed....xxx

Moorhen,

If you're worried you can always see a doctor here in the US. Just head to the emergency room. IME, they bump pregnant women to the top of the list.
You are probably fine, but if you are worried when you get here ask your friend to take you to the doctor.

One little tip, having had an m/c whilst on holiday in san fran, get some decent travel insurance incase you need medical intervention. We managed to knock up a bill of 4,000 quid for a D&C.

I bled at this stage with both of mine. Was told it was probably implantation bleeding. Bled ona nd off throughout early stages with DD - was so heavy I originally thought af had come so didn't do a test for quite a while. She's now gorgeous wee 31/2 yo madam!

Thanks for helpful advice and supportive words, they mean a lot. I'm a bit shell-shocked today (as well as trying to pack!) but there's only the tiniest trace of brown discharge now (TMI I know) and I feel OK. So we're going for it.

And luckily, being a cautious type, I am already insured up to $10 mill worth so that should see us through
