At home watching TV on second day of maternity leave but didn't take the regular contractions (every 5 mins but not very painful) very seriously and got the bus to my haircut, went to hospital 5 hours later and was 5cms.

DC1 I was, um, busy Blush in bed with my DH. He fell asleep, and I started getting contractions. I woke him up when I realized what was happening! DC2 I was also in bed, but asleep that time - contractions woke me up at about 4am; went to hospital at about 7:30am and was holding DC2 at 11:30am. I'm 36 weeks with DC3 on Wednesday and since the other two were early, the waiting game is about to begin...

Walking a horse up for the equine physio. Didn't realise they were contractions until five hours later when they got regular and five minutes apart....

DS1 I went to bed and couldn't get comfy so I got back up and wandered around downstairs for 3 hours before phoning the hospital. DS2 I sort of knew it was starting late morning after a slow breakfast on the saturday morning. I was just pottering about with my toddler and husband.

I was sitting in the bath at nine in the morning when my waters went pop! I then did some ironing (what was I thinking?!) and rang DH. I went to the hospital to have it confirmed that it was my waters and then I went to my parents' where I ate fish and chips and contracted, much to my dad's horror. I think he thought that the baby would shoot out at any moment!

I went home and met DH as my BIL had picked that day to deliver a fridge freezer (lovely of him but he really did pick the day!) and I was worried it would get nicked from outside our house. DH manoeurved it in nearly coming a cropper over the old one and I unloaded the dishwasher round him, contracting all the while (Really, did that need to be done right then?!) DS went off with my parents late afternoon and I contracted merrily, hanging on to the doors and watching gardeners' world - the colours of the flowers were very beautiful and calming I thought.

We went to the hospital around nine at night (scaring the male NDN on the way) and lovely, lovely DD arrived at half six the next morning! Twas a really lovely birth, notwithstanding the third degree tear but oh, well! I love that story!

DS I was asleep in bed
DD I was at a friends big birthday party (at 9 days overdue - why!?!) I tried to discreetly tell him I was leaving because it was 'time' without stealing his thunder when he did a very loud dramatic "oh my god!" And announced it to the whole room Hmm

DS1 re-arranging furniture with DH in the nursery and sorting out cot linen - he was 3 weeks early.

DD I was in hospital getting extreme headache checked out - monitored baby for 20 mins and saw faint contractions starting. Went home to pack bag and get DS sorted - mentioned getting a takeaway at 6ish as DS had taken bloody ages but DD was swimming into the pool 3hrs later!

Dd1 - in bed, asleep when waters broke. Contractions started after that - went to hospital and dd was born quickly!

Ds - niggly pains at 3pm when I collected dd from nursery. Made dinner, ran up the road after Ice. cream van etc at 5pm - pains still niggly. Waters broke at 6.30pm - called midwife to come- baby born (at home) at 8.30pm.

Dd2 - Baby felt very low and decided to call my friend to collect Dd from school. They arrived at my house at 5.30pm - at that exact moment the baby wriggled and my waters went pop dramatically! Contractions started and baby born (at home) at 9.30pm.
