Umm, what is moving in my belly?

I have read many threads about pregnant women feeling movement at very early stages in their pregnancy. My honest thought was that they are nuts they were imagining it as they wanted to feel it so badly.. But here I am 13+3 - 2nd pregnancy (DC1 is 10) and last night, as I was laid on my left side, just up and right of my belly button, something was 'poking'(?) me? I felt it with my hand and applied a bit of pressure. At first I convinced myself that it was just a pulse, but it was irregular, and it really felt like somebody was poking me from the inside out!! Even my DH felt it? Is the position I have described far too high up for the stage of my pregnancy even??

I didn't feel DC1 move til about 17 weeks. My dates with this pregnancy are accurate as I tracked ovulation and dating scan confirmed my dates..

Surely it couldn't have been........? Am I going nuts?

At 13 weeks the baby will still be very low down in your tummy.

I can't really see how it can be the baby poking you as its only about as big as a pea pod... So it's arms and legs will be like tiny matchsticks....

I am going nuts. Or I also have something else going on in there.

texts Dh to make sure that this wasn't one of my overly vivid pregnancy dreams

Hi Glinda I've had very similar sensations either side of or just below my belly button. There's definitely a strong pulse all around my belly, so I can't tell what's going on. I'm convinced it's wind but it's exciting all the same!

When i'm not pregnant I have these strange sensations. I'm afraid I'd conclude wind / some sort of spasm caused by organs starting to budge or be pushed into.

I'll take spasms! Haha.

It is very exciting blackandwhitecat Are you around the same stage as me?

I shall wait for a very sharp jab in the ribs before I will accept it is baby!

Glinda I'm 12 and a half weeks so a bit behind you. I think flora's point about organs being moved around probably fits with the trapped wind theory, but it's all exciting really - all changes for baby, some of them not so glamorous!

Your kicks will start as flutters low in your belly, and gradually become more pronounced kicks, probably still low down in your belly. As your uterus grows and is higher in your bet, the kicks will be too Smile enjoy - it's such an exciting time!

In your belly, not your bet! Grin
