We had a 17 week scan and was told we were having a girl which I'm very excited about, but before getting too excited and going out to buy a couple of bits, had anyone been told wrong? This was a private paid for scan

Didn't happen to me, but some friends of mine were told it was a girl all through their pregnancy. They had a boy! Maybe wait for the 20 week scan before buying anything, just in case. I don't think they'll have got it wrong though, but it can happen.

At my 20 week scan I was told a boy, made lots of blue purchases, prepared myself for a son. I had a few complications during my pregnancy so had a growth scan at 32 weeks, I asked how he was doing and the sonographer replied "He? There's no boys bits here!" I was in utter shock! I couldn't just take her word for it so booked a private gender scan and after a few seconds they confirmed my baby was indeed a girl!!

I was over the moon- always wanted a daughter and with so many boys in the family everyone else was estatic too!

I was wondering this. I was told my twins are both boys, but she never actually showed us a shot from the bottom, she only showed us from the side. I am getting scanned every 4 weeks until they arrive now so plenty of chances for them to double check. :-)

Friend of mine was told the wrong sex in the delivery room. Phoned her family saying it was a boy. Then rang back saying actually it wasn't!!!!!

Yes I know a work colleague who found out they were having another girl. Great they thought - no need to redecorate the nursery. Along came a boy. It is more common than you think.
