I posted a thread that was deleted as Spam and I am pretty pissed off about it!!!

Ok, I know I am not a regular poster, however I posted about an Ultrasound I had done yesterday privately which was half the price of popular Ultrasound companies and the post was removed. It was NOT my business and I was posting to only help people based in London that might want reassurance Ultrasound scans cheaper!

Still advertising though isn't it even though you say you won't get a cut.

Right decision by MNHQ from what I can tell from your OP

This isn't really a good place to advertise anything , as you've discovered.
Put it on a local website if you want to spread the word.

Maybe take it up with MNHQ rather than complaining about it here. They are the ones who make the decisions and the only ones who can sort it out.

I didn't report your thread but did think it sounded like advertising. It was how you worded it I guess.

I hear what you are saying both of you, I am not going to say anymore about it after this post (unless of course someone says something I need to reply to). I just remember reading posts on here when I was looking and I thought "oh that is not a bad price" did some searching price and found a better so wanted to let people that were also looking know. No worries

If I was a regular then I would know the rules and been in groups etc chatting away - I have refrained from saying much about my pregnancy on here for fear of jinxing it, I just spoke my mind yesterday, like I said lesson learned.

Try not to take it personally. Its just a lot of people do come on and spam that way, trying to make an advert look like a personal recommendation.

Thanks, I will bear that in mind, I think once I hopefully get out of the dangerzone, I can post with more confidence, so people will realise I am not a spammer. Thanks again

I didnt read your post, but i think if you had mentioned a specific place then they would remove it as it 'could' be someone advertising under a guise.

Obviously i dont know what you posted, but if you had put 'i had a private scan today, it was amazing! I managed to get it for £x which i thought was good value' then it wouldnt have been removed......if you see what i mean?

Thanks Topsy34, I get you!
I will not say where but in London off the A406, I had a reassurance scan for £50 with Picture, report and DVD. I was pleased because it was cheaper than other places I had found.

Presto!! I saw your post and did not read it as advertising! I saw it as being helpful wanting to inform others!! I personally think it's ridiculous and have had this happen to myself as I told people about my wonderful experience of a sleep therapist I used and wanted to help others who were struggling!! My thread got reported.. But luckily enough MN came back and said the thread was ok! I got so much abuse in the thread I asked for it to be removed! Funny that I had about six people PM asking for the details of the therapist I used and about my experience and I was happy to pass it on!

Why wouldn't you want to go with or look into a referral of someone/place/book etc if someone has had a great experience!

You were trying to be HELPFUL for gods sake!

It's so obvious the proper marketing posts and yours def wasn't!!

Leave them to it! Nothing better to do X

Thanks newtobecomingamum,

I am glad you understood what I was trying to do, I post on moneysaving expert and it is just nature to try to spread info especially if we can save money, living in London is not the cheapest place to live.

for me I am high risk due to my age, I am nearly 10 weeks, I have told 2 people including my OH and I didn't want to get carried away with pregnancy because I have friends that have sadly had losses, so anything I can do just to see if everything is ok I will do my best to make it happen (hence the scans!!) I am not buying 1 baby item until I am 35+ weeks because I am on pins and needles, anyway sorry for waffling I am just trying to explain.

Hi Presto,

You did absolutely nothing wrong hun! Don't let it upset you.. I nearly came off MN after what happened to me, but I got lots of PMs of support from people thanking me for my recommendation so at least I helped a few!

All you did was try to be helpful and help people save money.., especially to people in your situation which is a really scary difficult time! You were trying to help people for goodness sake!

Leave them to it and don't let it put you off from posting as there are some really truly helpful amazing people on here! Flowers
