Trapped Nerve in back :(

I posted on Sunday morning regarding shooting/cramping pains I was getting in my back. After speaking to a midwife and taking a trip to the local walk in centre they decided it was down to a trapped nerve. They couldn't be sure whether it was baby lying in an awkward position or if I'd been over doing it - lifting things etc.

Unfortunately it came at the worst time as we moved house on Monday! It's now 4 days later and my back is still hurting :( I am sat at my desk at work as I type this with a hot water bottle between my back and my chair. I'm taking warm baths twice a day, paracetamol, massages from OH (not complaining), and permanently have a hot water bottle strapped to my back!

When I walk I feel like my hips are starting to hurt too.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what will help? Or even if it is a trapped nerve and not something else?

You have my sympathies, I trapped a nerve around my hip once and it was agony. Having physiotherapy was what sorted me out, I couldn't really walk/stand without crying. After one session I saw a big improvement and he gave me exercises/stretches to do several times a day and I had weekle physio. It took a few weeks to feel ok again and even longer for it to be totally gone, but a good physio should be able to diagnose exactly where it's trapped and how to deal with it.

Hope it improves soon x

thanks tealcarpet, did you manage to get a physio through a referral from midwife or is this something I will have to do privately?
