Piles I think

So I think I might have the dreaded piles and to be honestly I'm amazed I've made it this far (29) weeks without them. Anyway I have had some blood when I have a bowel movement not loads just some when I first wipe; sorry TMI, but have no other discomfort other than when I do a number 2 so think they are mild and just irritated. I mentioned this to my consultant last week and prescribed some cream which I haven't used yet as don't feel like I need it and he advised that diet is a better way to manage it which I have been doing. I just wondered if anyone else had this and how long it took to get better?

I had one large pile at end of my last pregnancy due to large baby (9lbs 8oz in the end) and found cream relieved the burn/pain if been constipated. That is what makes it worse as even now 4 years later if I have been straining the pile will 'pop out' kind of (sorry!) So try to stop constipation, lots of fibre and water. My best remedy is 4-5 tinned prunes with natural yoghurt each day, either as pudding or breakfast with granola. Works a dream and remember my midwife saying the same last time. Good luck

Hi whittlefish yes had some bleeding after straining. After I'd had my first it cleared up and now only appears if had a period of constipation or wiping myself lots. You can get internal or external ones, mine will probably pop out in late pregnancy again. Not much you can do to stop them, just to relieve them. I found since losing more weight it has helped post birth. Glamorous eh?!

I had a pile at around 10 weeks and GP gave me anusol (nice name!)
Honestly use it, it cleared up straight away, I had let it get really bad and so painful I couldn't walk or even roll over in bed! It took about 2-3days to start working.

Yuppie I think I have a minor case. One bout of constitution at about 16wks and a small painful pile appeared. No longer painful, no bleeding but still there!!

I also started having a bit of blood every time after number 2. I didn't know it was piles...oh dear. Is it supposed to go after the pregnancy?
