Cramping at 4 weeks, help!

Hi ladies,

I got my first BFP on Friday afternoon with a FRER (yay!) but I'd been having weird cramp-like pains for almost a week prior to that and they've returned with a vengeance today. Has anyone experienced this and had a healthy pregnancy?

I've tested with FRERs yesterday and today, too, and am slightly concerned that they don't seem to be getting darker- could the two combined be indicative of a chemical pregnancy?

I'd be so grateful for any input.

Thanks!!

Hi there and congratulations! Cramps are very common in pregnancy, but can also be the start of a mc. Two days is not long for your hcg to have a big rise, you'd need to leave it a few days , but tbh the tests aren't that accurate.

So it could be either. You're just going to have to wait and see. If you don't get any spotting in the next couple of days then it's more likely to be pregnancy cramps. Good luck

HCG doubles only every 48-72 hours. You wouldn't really expect them to be getting darker overnight so no I don't think this is an indicator that things may go wrong. Ditto the cramps. Cramping is very common during early pregnancy.

How about popping over to the ante-natal boards and seeing if there is a thread for ladies due at the same time as you? It might be helpful to chat to other women who are experiencing the same things. I'm sure there will be plenty of newly pregnant women worried about cramping etc. knowing you're not the only one makes it easier to not worry!

Congratulations and good luck Smile

4wk4day, period like pains on and off for 2 weeks (basically since just after ovulation), I've read up and it's common. Assuming there's no blood it will just be Conception. Congrats!!! X

Congratulations!

I had cramping the week before AF was due and then for about 2 weeks afterwards. At first I was 100% sure AF was on its way, then I got my BFP and was 100% sure something was wrong. I'm 7 weeks now and nothing has happened get. I get cramps occasionally, think it's just everything stretching and preparing itself. Try not to worry :) I think it's al perfectly normal x

I cramped from about 5 days before AF was due to about 6 weeks. first I was worried by the cramps. then I was worried when they stopped!

sounds v normal to me, as a PP said, so long as they don't get severe and there is no blood.

congratulations, how exciting!

Period like cramps were pretty much my only symptom (apart from BFP) for the first couple of weeks. As long as there's no bleeding then it's normal
