Over hang after c section making me very sore - does it go away?

I had a section 13 days ago. The over hang is terrible. Yesterday I walked for all of 10 minutes and it wasn't actually my scar that was hurting me, but my over hang rubbing. Does this go away? My MW said there will still be swelling etc but ive never had an over hang (even with my previous section). I'm
Finding the over hang way more annoying and painful than my scar itself. I considered a support belt which my MW the said they don't recomment ... So now I'm not sure what to do to "hold me in" so to speak. Any advice much appreciated x

I would say you need to rest more until the swelling goes down a bit more. Is that possible?

It'll go down but it may not go away, I had a c section 8 years ago and although I am a size 10 its still there!

Mine has never gone away totally, been left with skin.

Not much you can do i'm afraid, but give it time, it's still early days.

She said a support belt will not help your muscles heal naturally as your not doing "the work" into making then strong yourself. But between exhaustion and nappies and bottles and looking after the house and my other son, I don't have the energy for any exercises. It was suggested to me that I'm doing to much to quickly. But how can u rest with a newborn?

Have you been doing pelvic floor excercises? they are still very important.

Honestly OP, in the scheme of things, you literally have only just had a major operation. It takes weeks for the insides and outsides to heal and the swelling to go down.

I have ordered a support belt which comes with an ice pack for my csection.

I don't see why they don't recommend it?

This early on I wouldn't recommend a support belt.

The overhang will reduce. You will still be swollen right now. I can't tell you it will go completely. I am a v fit, slim size 8 and nearly 4 years post cs. It will never go for me.

Can nobody help so you can rest?

I found putting one of those big mattress type maternity pads into the fold was great in the early days, it cushioned everything and stopped chaffing and sweating (it was recommended by the midwife before I left hospital). Eventually the swelling reduced, but I don't think the overhang every goes.

MW said they don't recomment it because a support belt takes away our natural ability to get our muscles back and strong on their own??? She said I need to get my exercises done and I'm trying but finding it painful. I just wanted the support for a few weeks until ive healed a bit better inside to them start my exercises. What a difference 10 years makes to your body. I had a section with my son when I was 20..... No over hang or weifht gain at all. Now at 31 my Tummy has fallen apart. X
