Low anterior placenta and previous C-section scar

Hi ladies

I had my 20 week scan today (at 20+1). Everything is ok with the baby, but I was told that I have a low lying anterior placenta. I know most low lying placenta's move upward during the course of the pregnancy, but because I also have C-section scar from my first DC, 9 years ago, I am concerned and worried that it may become placenta accreta.

I have a follow up scan at 32.5 weeks with a consultant to see if the placenta has moved and if not, what the situation is with regards to the scar.

I would love to hear if any of you has gone through the same and everything turned out ok. Also, any knowledge on the statistical chances of a low anterior fusing into an old scar would be helpful. Thank you.

Hi, I'm not sure of the answer but am also wondering similar to you.
I had placenta praevia in my last pregnancy and a premature emcs and now things are complicated by the scar potentially. I've not had my 20 week scan yet but am hoping it doesn't repeat.
I'd pack a bag in case you have to go in with bleeding, but most move up I think

Hi Abbey, did you have the early emcs due to bleeding? I would wait and see where your placenta is at the 20 week scan and go from there. If it's low anterior or praevia again, they'll monitor you.

I've had a low placenta before, but it was posterior. Was diagnosed when I had a bleed around 15-16 weeks but it had resolved itself by 24 weeks.

Just keeping my fingers crossed... I'm ok with a C-section. Just afraid of the placenta fusing with the scar.

Good luck on your 20 week scan. When is it? Let me know the outcome if you want.

Hi, I had this but posterior (I think). It moved by the 32 week scan but I had to have an internal scan to verify. HTH

Yes, I had a large bleed at 35 weeks. This will sound daft but I really wasn't expecting it as the consultant insisted it'd be fine, most move up etc. Mine was posterior low at 20 weeks, 2cm clear at the 33 week scan then out at 35, so I guess I was very unlucky to have it move back again.
My scan is in 2 weeks, thanks for the good wishes

I think with it in the scar they usually go for a c section but I'm not sure - good luck!

I had this op (am currently 35 weeks).

Had low anterior placenta at 12 week scan, very close to my c section scar.

It had moved by scan at 22/23 weeks and they told me that the vast majority of them do. I've got high anterior placenta now.

I'm 36 weeks. At 16 weekspeople was told I had placenta praevia, grade 4, anterior covering my c/s scar. 95% unlikely to resolve.

20 weeks it was low lying anterior, but not covering os.

28 weeks it had moved clear of the c/s scar.

I was very very very very relieved!
