Hi,

after 4 years of trying for no2 (my son is now 6) I gave in and decided it wasn't going to happen so plodded along with my life and work etc with the ethos of what will be will be! Other half and I had a rocky patch for a while and didn't really do the deed much but somehow I find myself with a bun in the oven! Shocked at first but then excited but then scared as go to docs because ive been gettinb pain and I needed to change my ad meds and he sends me for an early scan to rule out ectopic. Not thinking much negatively have my scan at what I think is 6w 1d and no heartbeat. Oh! Ok I said what will be will be but inside I felt like shit! He said he's 50/50 depending on when I actually conceived, my lmp was 8th April. I have to go back weds n.ext week.

I suffer with anxiety and depression and thought I would be ok but inside the not knowing nis killing me I cant sleep at night.

I also have been having terrible pains on the left hand side but , y stomache has a constant pulling and moving like sensation like something is in there. When I cough or sneeze it hurts. I had brown discharge for a few days but not much and that's now gone, no blood.

if anyone has any input or been through something similar I would appreciate your thoughts xxxxxx

I haven't been in anything similar but have spoken to women on here who have - if you are in pain you should go back to the epu and ask them to scan again.

Absence of a heartbeat at 6 weeks isn't unusual. It doesn't mean your pregnancy is failing, just that baby needs an extra few days of development, or your a few days less pregnant than you think.

I had scans at 6 weeks with all pregnancys. First was ectopic, but this is very unlikely in your case, as a fetus has been seen in your womb.
DS1 didn't have a heartbeat at 6+2.
DS2 had a heartbeat at 6+0.

The fact that the blood has stopped is promising.
The pain is conncering.

Have you got a number for a midwife yet? I'd ring them, and say that you've had a scan, but you have had a small amount of brown blood, left sided pain, stomach ache and pain on coughing and sneezing, and ask them for advice.

Good Luck

I had a similar experience at the start of my pg. I did a test, (positive) then around a week later had appalling pain in one side. I was scared and googled the pain and discovered it might be ectopic so rushed to A&E... got referred to have a scan the next day, which showed nothing. Had to have a blood test for hgc levels, and then another in 48 hrs. It showed that hgc was increasing, then a week later sent for another scan, which showed embryo in the right place, with a tiny beating heart. I have never been so happy to see something so tiny in all my life!

I'm now 23 weeks and can feel my 'Little Bean' kicking away inside me as I type.

Not sure if I had a typical experience or not, but I hope it gives you hope.

Good luck, and I know how hard this is, but try not to worry.

Thanks so much for your replies. No midwife or anything yet. I think I just need to ride it out until weds and think positive but as an anxious person this is hard. X
