Pregnancy

Maybe baby?

So, I've been getting a lot of migraines the last few days, which promted my mum to ask if I'm not pregnant... so, I looked back at the calendar, and my last period was the 28th April. Well, my partner stayed over the week of the 11th... which is right around when I would have been ovulating facepalm It would be really bad timing if I'm pregnant - my partner and I are both in the first year of our degrees. I already have 3 children and only just got back to education now that they're in school.

We used condoms, so it's hopefully unlikely, but still a chance, right? I took this test this morning, even though it's probably too early, and got this result. Is this a positive, or am I just seeing where the positive line SHOULD be if it was? I can't see that it has any colour so thinking it's just an indent / shadow of where the positive would be if it picked up hCG? Thanks! x

I think you are just seeing where it would be.

Looks like a really faint line to me - probably a positive. However, there is such a thing as an evaporation line, which I've never seen IRL. Might be worth googling, given there doesn't seem to be the pink colour to the line.

Sorry, guess it's likely a wait and try again tomorrow kind of thing...

Thanks... I figured something like that but just wanted to see what other people thought / if anyone else had experienced a line like this and not been pregnant? Fingers crossed tomorrow's test shows a clear result! x

You should be testing next week, if your last period was April 28 and you ovulated on May 11. End of this cycle would be next week Tuesday or Wednesday. Save your money and don't bother POAS until then. I know it's hard!

Oh, thanks for the advice; these tests say they can be used from 6 days before you're due though? I'm due in 5 days so they should be okay?

I always mistook the grey indent line on a FRER to be a faint until I got my first 'proper' faint & could really tell the difference. It'd be slightly thicker & unmistakably pink. You might be in luck Flowers

Hm. This is what my positive tests looked like when I tested a few days before I was due. I thought they were too faint to be positive even though my boobs were in agony and my oh was convinced I was pregnant. He was right! But like previous poster said, it could be evaporation lines? Good luck anyway hun! Hope the next few days go quickly for you! X

Doesn't look like a line to me. You may be in luck

I am such a fool -_- it's clearly too early to tell, but I couldn't wait, so peed on a cheap dip stick. Again I can see where the line SHOULD be. I need to stop and just wait for my period!! :( Stressing myself out. Am I just seeing things?? I'm worrying so much I'm convincing myself I am! I even feel nauseous but it's probably worry. I have 3 girls from a previous marriage; my partner and I have only been together a year, and I am just finishing my first year of uni. It would be terrible timing, but what will be will be I guess! Despairing at myself for testing again and putting myself through this stress of scrutinising the space where the line WOULD be if it was positive! Doh.

I can't see a line on any of your tests!

Thanks! Hopefully I'm just seeing things because I've convinced myself it's going to be! Thank you x

Hi caffeine I can actually see a line on both. Did the lines appear within the time frame of the test? If so it is likely a positive, however you are still early and it will be much clearer if you can wait a few days and test again (I know how difficult that is!) Try not to panic just yet x

Op, I use the cheapies and if you can tell where the line would be, then it's a line! Hold out though, a surprisingly high percentage of pregnancies don't stick and will miscarry. Often before people ever realise.

I can see a line on both OP...

But I would have to disagree with Mayfair as I must have peed on a million of those internet cheapies and I could always see the outline of the line. And it definitely wasn't actually positive til this month. Those bloody things can give you evil evaps!

As hard as it is, wait a couple of days and try again OP.

Thank you all. I really appreciate the insight. I will test again when I'm due (and likely every day between too - can't stop myself!). They came up in the time frame, but it's literally just like I can see where the line SHOULD be. It doesn't look like an actual line, if that makes sense? Confusing! Thanks again x

I might have a different brand ... I use the ones that sell to nhs. Bought via home health UK. Mine have been right on 11 pregnancies tho some of those have been chemical pregnancies that didn't develop (verified by blood tests). Always been pregnant when I could tell where the line would be, if there was a line (even though there wasn't really a line) IYSWIM.

caffeine I know exactly what you mean as I had that with all my BFN ICs. I am 5 wks pregnant and my ICs are still coming up with only a very faint pink line. Blazing positives on all other brands, so I don't think they're that reliable.

I can definitely see a line on the FRER though, but it is extremely faint.

Caffeine I used a test that claimed accuracy five days early and got a negative when I was a day late. Still no period nearly a week later, took another test and got a positive.

I no longer trust the so called early tests.

I'm with the others that you need to wait, but you could also try a digital one, that shows pregnant/not pregnant instead, so no lines to interpret. I don't think I could cope with all this evaporation line stuff, words are better to me!

Tested again...

I know I need to wait, but I can't help it. I feel sick now :/

How long are you leaving them for ? I did a few in the past and left it longer than recommended and got evaps bit like yours (turns out I wasn't pregnant)
When I was the positive line went pink almost straight away.

They all look positive to me. I see lines on ALL of your test x

Report
hiccoughybump · 22/05/2015 01:13

They look like early positives to me too but second what a previous poster said about not all pregnancies "sticking" - about 25% of early pregnancies end in miscarriage but most people don't know they're pregnant that early. I'd try to wait at least 48 hrs until your bhcg has doubled and see if it's darker
