Scared for early scan

Hi - I posted last week when I had some light spotting at 4+5 and had a rubbish time with a nurse at a walk in centre.

Finally got to see a doctor yesterday and I'm booked in for a scan at the EPU tomorrow morning.

I'm so scared. I don't have any real symptoms except tiredness (now 5+6) so I'm feeling pessimistic plus we had to cancel our holiday to Italy we we're due to go on tomorrow (which is so not important compared to baby but I just feel I'm going to be getting neither).

I know no-one can tell what'll happen tomorrow but just needed some hand holding. Clinging to the fact I've not had anymore spotting.

Hi Disney, good news about no more spotting.

If it helps, I only had exhaustion as a symptom up until 6 weeks on the dot when MS kicked in. It is completely normal not to have any symptoms or to have all the symptoms. Every pregnancy is different so try not to compare :) Hope your scan goes well tomorrow will be thinking of you x

Thanks girls - I'm trying hard to be positive but it gets hard sometimes doesn't it!

I'm so useless at work today - how I'm going to fill in a time sheet where we have to charge every 15 minutes I don't know!

Oh I totally understand its such a worrying time I really feel for you. I would have taken the day off work or at least a half day as I know it is gunna be constantly on your mind. Is there any way you can get out of work early?

Oh I remember your last thread (the nurse still angers me!)

It will be scary, and I hope everything is ok for you. Just be warned that they might not be able to see anything clearly at 5 weeks but that would be normal. They may have to get you to come back in a week. But they should be able to see the location.

As for symptoms, my food aversions didn't even start until 6 weeks before that even started. I tucked into a full christmas lunch but a week later meat and vegetables weren't allowed within a mile of me... only toast Grin

Remember.... apart from a little spotting which has stopped and that cowbag of a nurse you have no reason to think that anything is wrong. I am not saying it will be definitely fine but i reckon without her unhelpful input you would just be continuing to assume everything is ok.

As pp said, the fact you've had no more spotting is a great sign, and with no other symptoms I hope you get to see a nicely placed bean

I had an early scan two weeks ago at 5+5 and would have liked to know in advance that they, least with me, did a thorough check of everything in there before telling me what they'd found. Like, 2 long minutes worth. My heart was in my mouth, but I guess it's their job to check everything is fine. Also, when they turned the screen to me, I didn't really know what I was looking at. Kind of wished I'd checked in advance to see what a 5 week pregnancy looked like (even more reassurance).

They more than likely will ask you back in 2 weeks so they can check development & see the heart beat. They couldn't see the hb at my first scan, they may well not see it at yours either.

Good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you

Well I'm still in limbo. The scan showed just a sac which they said would mean 4-5 weeks. which they said could mean it's stopped growing or could mean dates are a bit off. I did ask if it was likely to be bad as i had a positive test 2 weeks ago but she said that tests were so sensitive these days and things grow at different rates so she couldn't say one way or other.

I've got to go back in 2 weeks. Which feels like an eternity.

I'm not feeling optimistic - just want to be out of this uncertainty Sad

Sorry you're feeling low Flowers

I had an early scan at 6 weeks and all that could be seen was the sac. 6 days later, there was little bean with heart beating away. I'm now 13+1. My dates were just a little bit out so I wasn't as far along as I thought. Don't lose that optimism. It's not bad news x

It's so hard not to worry, I hope you find some distractions over the next fortnight so it gets here quickly Thanks
