isofix car seat bases

Can you get a universal isofix base or does it need to be the make of your car seat? I have a silver cross car seat but the isofix bases seem so expensive!

Isofix works on most makes of car but check your owner's manual! We have a Toyota Corolla and a Skoda Fabia and it's fine for both.

If it is the simplifix car seat I think you need their specific isofix - I haven't used it yet as baby not due till April but I managed to get the isofix from ebay for £60. Might be worth a look.

Sorry, misunderstood Blush I think isofix bases are universal as you can buy them separately but the best thing to do is check Silver Cross website, I should think.

I don't think the bases are universal, and you should buy one specifically for your make of seat.
But the simplicity car seat seems to be able to be belt fitted, without a base, if you don't want to splash out another £100.

They are specific to the car seat or a range of car seats by the same manufacturer. They are expensive but so worth it particularly as with the infanct car seats you tend to be constantly in and out.

Hi OP,
We also have the silver cross simplicity seat & have had to buy the base as the seat belt in both mine & DHs cars wasn't long enough to fit around. Apparently this is a common problem so I'd check in advance to make sure it fits if you plan on using seat belt only.

The isofix bases are a lot of money but worth every penny as it literally takes seconds to secure or remove the car seat. It's also very easy to move the bases between cars.

They are specific to the car seat, and they are well worth having! So much easier than belting them in and out every time.

Definitely worth looking on eBay etc as they often come up.
