40+6 and tried everything!! Any advice?

I'm 6 days past my due date and after 2 membrane sweeps (first one I was 2 cm dilated, second one I was 3 cm) and a trial of every old wives tale in the book....nothing! I had about 4 hours of contractions on Monday night which amounted to nothing. I really didn't want to be induced because I think I'll resort to an epidural pretty quickly, and I know the benefits of having a natural birth. Starting to feel that these choices are being taken out of my hand by a rather stubborn baby!!! Any advice on how I can get things moving (or man-up and cope with an induction without an epidural?) I can't believe I've got another week of this at least!!

You can't. It's that simple.

Many people offer remedies to get baby's shifting but I've gone over with all 4 of mine, induced with 1 (my 3rd) and not a single thing worked for me! I've done curry, raspberry tea, sex, sweeps, pineapple, jumping up and down... The best thing I've ever done is relax and not obsess about when the baby was going to arrive. I find being calm really helps with an active and calm labour too.

I know it's easier said than done, but by my 4th I had learnt.

I really believe that fresh pineapple got DD moving - we'd got to 40+12 and I was desperate!
