I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

I'm 1-2 weeks with DC2 according to my clear blue digi...

From going off my experience with DS1 the next 12 weeks are just filled with anxious knicker checking, symptom analysing, Ill advised googling...the list goes on!

Best (although crappiest sounding) advice I got was that what will be, will be and worrying won't change the outcome!

but I am still crapping myself

I'm 5 weeks and feel your pain! It's my second & I've told my mum, dad and a few friends, I figure if anything bad happens then I'd want them to know anyway.

I did some good not drinking the other day, although it was fairly costly involving me buying most rounds and so getting myself just a coke instead of vodka & coke! I know a friend who decanted non-alcoholic wine into a proper wine bottle for a party before!!

I've been worrying a lot for the past 2 weeks (found out really early) but have calmed down slightly the past few days. It just took me a while to get used to the idea of having another baby (it's a bit of a happy surprise!) for me! Can't wait to have a scan though, and just check that it's all ok in there!

It'll go quick to 12 weeks I keep telling myself, a nice, nausea filled, no alcohol drinking 7 weeks!! Fun!!

Allstoppedup · 27/01/2015 21:39

As for big events/none drinking...already having DS1 kinda covers it for me but the classics are antibiotics/New years resolution/ diet- all pretty transparent though!

I think the best bet is to get coke/lemonade in a short glass and pretend it's a mixer!

Congratulations by the way!

CluelessDil · 27/01/2015 21:40

Anxious knicker checking Grin yep!

Googling every twinge or random question that pops into my head! My internet browsing should make for interesting reading!

Nice to know it's not just me. You shouldn't wish your life away but I wish I could fast forward this bit

OP posts:
Teaching123 · 27/01/2015 21:42

Hah, I agree about the internet browsing history!!

Allstoppedup · 27/01/2015 21:43

Grin at none alcoholic wine decanting! Dedication!

I'm too early for any serious symptoms bar the odd wave of nausea but I had Hyperemesis and ended up in hospital with DS at 8 weeks so I'm a bit scared of that happening again- especially as I can't really sleep the days away waking only to vomit as I''ll be looking after DS!

CluelessDil · 27/01/2015 21:44

I like the decanting wine idea- I may steal that one. I was due a night out with friends but I've invited them for a night in instead at my house.... That could work!

Not sure about the close family members 30th and 60th celebrations... I also like the sneaky round buying!

Oh me! Me!
5 weeks, 5 days here and I'm on the brink of a nervous breakdown. Mild symptoms, no symptoms, missed miscarriages, ectopic are now all favourites on my google bar, gawd if they charged money for these sites they'd have made a fortune from me in the 8 days since that ruddy second line on that preggo test.
I've told my boss, technically you're advised to as soon as you're aware so that a risk assessment can be made and any non suitable activities moved to another victim. To be fair, her heads so far up here own arse she's not mentioned in again since our last convo. I reckon I could be sat with vomit dripping off me and she'd be none the wiser Grin

I'm just becoming a bit of a hermit, blaming some heavy credit card spending over Christmas (which isn't too far from the truth!). I'm so tired, working FT with a 4yo, need my weekend's for sleep at the moment really!

Teaching123 · 27/01/2015 21:48

Confession: I'm actually having an early scan at 7 weeks, because I was so worried at the beginning. Just to see it's all ok. I could wait until 12 weeks but my dad offered to pay for it so going in 11 days (and counting).

CluelessDil · 27/01/2015 21:50

I haven't had any nausea yet- which strangely enough is making me anxious.. Google says I'm ok for now on that front.

Hyperemisis sounds absolutely gut wrenching. To be honest I'd never even heard of it before Kate Middleton, must be awful.

So are we all healthy eating?

I'm 6 wks today. Congratulations to the rest of you!
I'm having a scan this coming Friday to check viability/confirm dates etc. I had my bloods done 2 wks ago which made it a bit more real but I'm knicker checking like the rest of you too!

ImpatiencePersonified · 27/01/2015 21:53

I'm really tempted by an early scan... Especially if I can't still my erratic thought process.

Eating healthy.... Well I ... No...

CluelessDil · 27/01/2015 21:53

impatience I know it's such a serious subject but your post made me smile, it's so good to know I'm not the only one driving myself mad!! Makes me feel kind of sane even. I was starting to think I'd become some kind of prophet of doom!!

TakingTheStairs · 27/01/2015 21:54

Oh, and as for healthy eating CluelessDil .. Hahahahaha. Nope.

Teaching123 · 27/01/2015 21:54

I healthy eat until about 8pm. Then it all goes out of the window for some reason as soon as DD is in bed!!

TakingTheStairs · 27/01/2015 21:55

Doooo it impatience have an early scan.

HannahB86 · 27/01/2015 21:55

I'm a bit further along than most of you ladies, approx 9 weeks and now counting down to my scan as it's just a few weeks away. Have only told my parents, sister and boss so far and my best friend worked it out for herself after me not drinking at several events! Cannot wait to get to 12 weeks now, am desperate to see everything is ok and tell everyone our news!

Teaching123 · 27/01/2015 21:56

Mine is £100. That's about what they all seem to be, it's made me feel better that it isn't so long to wait, I've calmed a bit. It might help.

CluelessDil · 27/01/2015 21:57

Which companies have you booked for an early scan? I can't believe I don't know about this! I thought private scans were mostly for people who wanted to know the sex.

OP posts:
ImpatiencePersonified · 27/01/2015 22:00

I might have to you know and I'll blame peer pressure! You lot egging me on... Coz you know, clearly I ain't convinced myself already lolz
Glad we can all see the funny side of this fucked up journey, at the very least I'm gonna have a tighter sphincter with all the bum clenching that's going on.
A tiny pain in me left toe = guaranteed ectopic
I blink too much = frantic googling of eyeball dismorphia attributed to missed miscarriage
Boobs don't hurt = do I have emotionally retarded mammories that simply won't feed a baby

I am slowly going mental... Thanks for coming with me :D

CluelessDil · 27/01/2015 22:02

My last funny/not funny entry to google was 'vaginal stabby pains in early pregnancy' Hmm I need help!

In case you are wondering, normal apparently- only happened once, was more a twinge than a pain....

Part of me desperately wants an early scan as we had one with DS as we had no idea when he was conceived, sadly I can justify or afford it this time round Sad

In the end because of the Hyperemesis I ended up having an early scan at the hospital anyway so I guess that's my silver lining if i do get it again!

I'm going to be loopy by 12 weeks...just doesn't feel real yet!

Teaching123 · 27/01/2015 22:03

I looked into ultrasound direct (which looks good) - but found a local company in the end, less of a drive! I'm in norwich.

I'm also team "check when I wipe" it's a habit now!!

Teaching123 · 27/01/2015 22:04

"Backache in pregnancy" - normal unsurprisingly!!!
