I'm so bored

Meplusyouequals4 · 26/01/2015 18:43

I'm due to have a section in 3 weeks (DC3) and it feels so long away.

I stopped work 2 weeks ago (job is to physical to carry on) I feel bored during the day when DC are at school. I just can't stand daytime telly.

today I baked a cake while that was cooking, cleaned the entire house from top to bottom even though I only did it yesterday. then got tea ready. but it was only 11.30 by this time.

what do you do to pass the time?

I'm still at work so can only suggest what I would do if I was off...be prepared ... you did ask Grin

Start a diary - always wanted to write a funny diary, totally honest and something that would make me millions in years to come

Make a scrapbook - get all your scan pics, anything baby related and paste those bastards into a book that you can present proudly to your child in 18 years time

Read... love me some quiet time with a book.. proper escapism

Write your bucket list - what things do you really want to do when bambino arrives?

Batch cook, blitz, separate and freeze - you'll thank me for it when the weaning starts!

Now this sounds really mental... but bear with me. Buy some Christmas cards in the sale and write out your cards for 2015, don't seal the envelopes and all you have to do come Christmas is add the wee ones name on the card. Painful job done innit

Get all of your birthdays, anniversaries into something like Moonpig, so that it sends you a reminder when its someones birthday.

I could go on, but hope thats inspired you a wee bit, even if none of the above are for you, it might get the old mind whirring ;)

Hope the next few weeks fly in and good luck!
xxx

Hell no to the washing and ironing... you don't want to get him used to that my darling!

How about downloading this bad boy if you have a Kindle or similar - Top 100 Baby Purees: 100 quick and easy meals for a healthy and happy baby - you'll find it on amazon (wont let me hyperlink it!)

here's some to get you started (blatantly nicked off of the interwebs and some may not freeze but worth a read);

Banana puree

Bananas are often a favourite food for little ones. They are easy to prepare, filling, and tasty, as well as being a good source of potassium.

Ingredients
1 small ripe banana
1-2 tsps of baby rice
2 tbsps of breastmilk or formula

Method
Mash the banana well until smooth. Mix the rice and milk, and stir into the banana. Adjust the texture with milk or rice to make it runnier or firmer.

Carrot and parsnip puree

This tasty root vegetable mixture is a good source of betacarotene. In season, parsnips have a delicious natural sweetness that your baby may love to taste.

Ingredients
1 carrot, peeled and diced
1 parsnip, peeled and diced

Method
Steam the vegetables until tender. Puree in a blender or mouli and adjust the texture with boiled, cooled water or your baby's usual milk.
Broccoli and cauliflower puree

This combination of brassica vegetables is a good source of iron and vitamin C.

Ingredients
1 large broccoli floret
1 large cauliflower floret

Method
Steam the vegetables until they are tender. Puree in a blender or mouli and adjust the texture with boiled, cooled water or your baby's usual milk.
Sweet potato mash

This mashed vegetable meal is a gorgeous colour and a good source of betacarotene.

Ingredient
1 sweet potato

Method
Steam or boil the sweet potato until it is tender. Drain and mash well, adding your baby's usual milk to make an appetising consistency.
Potato and spinach puree

This is a nourishing meal for your baby. It provides your baby with both betacarotene and vitamin C.

Ingredients
1 medium floury potato, peeled and quartered
20g (a handful) spinach

Method
Boil the potato in unsalted water until tender. Steam the spinach over the potato in a sieve for the last few minutes of cooking. Drain and mash the potato with a little of your baby's usual milk. Puree the spinach and add to the potato. Adjust the texture with boiled, cooled water, breastmilk, or formula.
Pear and apple puree

This delicious mixture of fruits will provide your baby with plenty of vitamin C.

Ingredients
1 ripe pear, peeled and sliced
1 apple, peeled and sliced

Method
Place the pear and apple in a small saucepan with one tablespoon of water and cook over a low heat, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is tender. Puree in a blender or mouli.

Lentils with butternut squash

This sustaining mixture of pulse and vegetable will provide your baby with iron, betacarotene and fibre.

Ingredients
50g split red lentils
120g butternut squash, peeled and diced

Method
Boil the lentils in water until soft. Steam or microwave the squash until tender. Drain the lentils in a sieve. Add the squash to the sieve and place the sieve over a bowl. Press the mixture through the sieve using a wooden spoon, stir and serve.
Avocado and kiwi puree

Your baby may really enjoy this refreshing, colourful combination. It is a good source of healthy fat (monounsaturated fat) and vitamin C. Kiwi fruit can be a bit sharp if they're not fully ripe, so taste a fruit from your punnet first.

Ingredients
Half a ripe avocado
1 ripe kiwi fruit

Method
Mash the avocado well. In a separate bowl, peel and mash the kiwi. Push the kiwi through a sieve to remove the pips, then mix with the avocado.
Cantaloupe melon puree

Cantaloupe melons are smallish, with green mottled skins and orange flesh. If you can't find them on your shop's shelves, any other melon will work well. Cantaloupe melons will provide your baby with betacarotene and vitamin C.

Ingredient
Large slice of canteloupe or other melon, seeded

Method
Puree the melon and, if desired, add a little baby rice to thicken .

I've also now been told to clean MIL's house if I feel like it (hers will be a state) she lives next door so not far to go.

Read, draw, paint, watch films, play any musical instruments? Surely you must have a lapsed hobby or two?

Meplusyouequals4 · 26/01/2015 20:40

Thanks impatient I will Grin

mrscog don't really have a hobby, I work nights so normally sleep when DC are at school.

I didn't have this much time off before I had either of them with DS i went in labour at work lol. and DD I was off work for 4 days before labour started. just feel like I have too much time on my hands.

In that case it's time to find a nice easy hobby to get started on. Films are easy. How about looking up the Top 100 films on IMDB and watching some classics you've not watched? Or all the blockbusters from last year?
