Hi there

I'm just looking for a bit of advice really. I started off my pregnancy with a bmi of 28. So overweight. I had put on a stone on honeymoon and hadn't managed to lose it before falling pregnant. I then had morning sickness for the first 16 weeks and hadn't put on any weight. Since feeling better however (and xmas indulgence) ive literally put on 26lb eeeeek!! I'm now 27weeks. Feeling a bit stressed and worried about my rate of gain and the fact I can't actually stop eating!! Because I had been ill my exercise went out the window and haven't really got back into anything. What I'm wondering is how much did you gain in pregnancy by this stage and did it start to slow down at all? How much did you lose immediately after the birth and in the first week. And did bf really help you to lose those extra lbs? I've always struggled with my weight and feeling awful at what the scales are going to say by the time I'm full term. Ultimately I want to have a healthy baby but at the same time I don't want my issues over body image to ruin this time. Any help, advice and previous experiences much appreciated, thanks xx

I'm not sure if its comparable as I wasn't overweight before pregnancy, but I put on a lot more than the guidelines suggested I should, I ate loads as I felt I needed it. The majority of that came off very quickly within the first few
, with 1st baby it did take a bit of effort to get back to a weight I wad happy with. With ds2 I've lost loads of weight and don't really understand why. Both ebf. I realise that if you struggle a bit with weight generally you will want to be careful, but everyone if different and I think you need to respond to your body in pregnancy, not just do what the books say!

I was a bit overweight before getting pregnant and when I eventually plucked up the courage to weigh myself at around 26 weeks I could have fallen off with shock! I'd put on over 28 lbs!! I went through a stage of being so hungry I couldn't satisfy my appetite, and it's with shame to say that I've not eaten that well throughout my pregnancy (now 36 weeks). I've eaten plenty of fruit and vegetables but mainly just what I've fancied when I've fancied! My appetite has yo-yo'd since and currently I'm always hungry!

The other day I was concerned as to how much I would've put on by now after I gained SO much so quick, and I was pleasantly surprised...I've put on just under 3 stone throughout my entire pregnancy which I'm happy about as I know a lot of it is fluid too. I think around the 2nd trimester is when you tend to gain most of the weight, so don't be too hard on yourself as you'll probably find it plateaus soon! Thanks
