Hi all

I work in a school and need to get some new clothes (currently 21 weeks and now looking bit more pregnant than plus size I was before pregnancy!!) I have never really been a tight clothes person due to plus size and self conscious but all I seem to find online are skin hugging clothes...has anyone got any advice on high street shops (so can try on) which have maternity trousers (not really a dress/skirt person) and long tops? All I seem to find are shorter tops.....our mothercare doesn't have much in store unfortunately but was lucky with some over bump jeans! Have only got to survive the spring term at work :)
Thanks in advance!

I also work in a school and I got some wide leg black work trousers from New Look, and now their sale is on I've bought lots of smart-ish tops/t-shirts that I can pair with cardigans or jackets (left unbuttoned XD).

Only places that I know stock maternity in-store are H&M, New Look, Matalan and Mothercare. Not even our Debenhams or M&S stock maternity.

Most places now only do it online which is a bit of a pain but if they're high street stores you can mostly return in-store rather than send back which is a bit easier!

Next, their clothing in general is generously sized, so what should be your size will likely be slightly too big, definitely not tight fitting at all (I was able to pull maternity jeans right down there was so much extra space in the hip/thigh area).

Debenhams for trousers - I ordered a few sizes/styles and returned what didn't fit - congratulations by the way!

Topshop do nice long shirts/tops in their maternity range. There's sod all in stores though - big range online. The sizing is a bit odd though so I used to order two sizes and send back one of them.

I also got a lot of work stuff from ASOS - comfy dresses etc. (Am a teacher by the way!)

I got a great pair of work trousers from Mothercare, really comfy (well, compared to ALL MY OTHER CLOTHES at the moment!) I think they were £22.00.

Jojo Maman Bebe have a sale on at the mo, I got a couple of tops for £10.00 each.

I'd try New Look too, they've a great range online and quite a lot of it is reduced at the mo.

I honestly didn't realise how difficult dressing a bump would be, I'm only 26 weeks so not huge (yet) and have been struggling since about 14 weeks!

I've found that hardly any stores carry the maternity ranges in stores. I've ordered stuff from next, asos & topshop online. Asos good for dresses that can be worn over leggings. Next have fab over the bump leggings. I only have one pair of jeans from topshop & found them really generous in size. Also eBay good for second hand stuff

I bought some black trousers from Jojo which were really good for work; unfortunately missed the sale and paid £35 as I needed them quickly and was the only store with smart work clothes in stock. They have a sale on currently, it's well worth a look as their discounts make their prices a little more realistic!
