Stomach bug - what if I catch it?

My 3yo DD has a lovely vomiting bug. It came on this morning and she's been puking every hour or so, I've been cleaning it up, cuddling her, etc.

I'm pretty sure it's a 24 hour type thing that will pass.

I'm 16 weeks pregnant - is it really bad to catch a bug like this now? Not that I can do anything more than I'm doing, washing hands every five seconds and trying to stop her vomity breath going all over me!

AFAIK it shouldn't do baby any harm if only 24 hours but will be horrible for you. I think you have to be watch dehydration. If in doubt ring the midwives -that's what I do each time we have an illness at nursery (Hand, foot and mouth being the latest!).

I had a stomach bug last week, all is fine.

Just keep an eye and try and keep fluids down if you do catch it.

Unfortunately it is not avoidable when you have little ones x

Humph.

I've only just recovered from bad morning sickness so more throwing up isn't appealing! I'm still taking cyclizine - I wonder if I should come off it to allow the bug to get out of my system? As it prevents sickness. I was planning to stop taking it after Christmas so I can come off it a bit early - although I won't know if it's HG or the bug if I start puking again Grin

But as long as it won't do the baby any harm, that's the main thing.

DD seems fine in herself, no fever or anything just constant vomiting so she's a bit weak now and snoozing next to me on sofa.
