Pregnancy

Bleeding at 12 weeks

Hi all,
I have come here for a bit of reassurance. I am 12/13 weeks and my scan is on Monday.

Since last Tuesday I have had cramping a little brown spotting, mainly on toilet tissue. But last night and today it was quite worse an visible on a panty liner still brown not red.

My tummy now feels very tender. I am so concerned but was told to wait it out. I guess I just want to hear other mums saying the same and going on to have healthy babies. Although I know it's not the same for everyone.

Xx

You are right, it's not the same for everyone. But I had light brown bleeding from 12-13 weeks and all was fine, I'm now 37 weeks. Good luck.

Hi. I also had bleeding for probably weeks 5-13 like a heavy period, some brown discharge. I am still pregnant now at 34 weeks. I was able to have internal scans and the feedback was it could be old period blood or a burst blood vessel but in my case it was below the womb. Stay positive. I do remember how stressful it was though.

I had some bleeding like that early on, several times. Just had more at 26 weeks but other than that this pregnancy is progressing totally normally.

Hi I had bleeding at 13wks. It was like a heavy period and lasted about ten days (petering out). I also had brown spotting at 6wks.
I didn't have cramps but my tummy did feel tender.
I'm 22w now. There was no explanation for my bleeding.
I hope your scan goes well on Monday.

I had a big, bright red bleed just after I found out I was pregnant followed by several smaller bleeds a few weeks apart, at first red again but then brown spotting. No explanation and am now 37 weeks. Hope everything is well for you OP.

I had spotting that turned into very, very heavy bleeding with clots & cramps at about 4 weeks. I showed my dh all the blood & said to him 'well I've definitely lost it' & cried my eyes out. But I had an early pregnancy scan & there was a heartbeat Smile. I had bleeding on & off until I was 20 weeks. I now have a 8 month old who is fast asleep upstairs. Stay positive xx

Hey Rachel,

I had very dramatic amounts of bleeding and clots last Wednesday after spotting and what I thought were 2 periods, and went to a and e.I didn't even know I was pregnant, I thought I'd lost the baby, there was so much blood...to our complete surprise an internal scan revealed a heartbeat and a moving baby that is around 9 weeks! Apparently the bleeding is being caused by a big blood clot sitting below the foetus, called a subchorionic haematoma. I'm still bleeding and apparently this'll continue until the clot dissipates.

There is a risk of course but fingers crossed. Apparently blood irritates the uterus so the mild tummy pain could be explained by that. I suggest if you're worried about any bleeding you go to a and e or make an urgent apt with midwife, any thing to get it checked out. They were very nice to me. There doesn't seem to be much info or firm advice 're this condition. Drink lots of water apparently helps with tummy irritation, but get official advice from the doc! Good luck with the scan...best wishes...

Thanks for all your replies. I guess I am just worried as my 1st pregnancy had no complications.

There is still brown spotting but I just have to be patient and trust that my body is doing everything it can.

Hope you all have a great pregnancy. Will let you know how the scan goes x

I didn't bleed at all in my first pregnancy either, rachey. But I did in my second, and have on quite a few occasions in my current (3rd) pregnancy. No cause has ever been found, even with my (albeit minor) late term bleeding, which they take pretty seriously and really investigate. It's especially hard when you think that you're a person who doesn't bleed in pregnancy, but I guess no two pregnancies are the same. I hope that your scan goes well.

I had a huge bleed at just before 12 weeks, bright red with clots. They saw me straight away at the epu and everything was fine. Smile

I had brown discharge at 8 weeks, had a scan at epu.. All fine... Then had another heavier brown bleed at 11 weeks, 12 week scan all good I'm now 32 weeks ?? It has been suggested to me it was possibly an implant bleed that took a while to come out! Xx

Im 16 weeks pregnant with twins and it was through IVF. But I passed a (medium) blood clot on 20th Oct. I went to EPAC I had a scan and the twins were ok and revealed their heartbeat. I had my 13th week scan on 12th Nov and their were still ok.

But i passed my second (medium) blood clot on 17th Nov, 4 weeks after my first one on 20th Oct. Ive had bleeding on both times 1st time was brown bleed afterwards, 2nd time was red before passing clot, then it was a drk/brown, but It still continuing.

Im scared ive got cervical cancer, but I think they wont test me because im pregnant.

I had a high vaginal swab done at the Early pregnancy Assessment Clinic when I went for my 13th week scan, She said something about the entrance to my cervix, I think she could see a bleed or something.

Ive booked to see my Gp at the doctors tomorrow, see what he says. I don't see a Consultant who deals with twin pregnancies till 5th December, I was going to tell her about the blood clots and the bleeds. I feel like pain and pressure inside my genital area. I had genital warts with my first pregnancy, I don't know if il get them again.

Im not due my next smear till Aug 2015, but i want one doing now, but being told i myt not get one done till after the pregnancy.

today is my scan and I cannot be any more nervous. I have the most stupids thoughts running through my head. I am glad my sister is looking after my little man today as I do not think I could concentrate.

Will let you all know how the scan goes. Fingers crossed. xx

There are several reasons that you could be having this bleeding. If all is OK with the baby today, they should have a look and see if they can see an obvious cause of the bleeding or not. It is horrible waiting to find out what's going on. Hopefully all is well and nothing untoward is causing the bleeding.
