Hello!! congratulations!! I waited until I was 20 weeks until I started buying. I wanted to know what sex my baby was before I started shopping then I went crazy!!! It might be a good Idea to wait until the first 12 weeks is over, pregnancy is very high risk before then, please don't think i'm trying to put a downer on your happy news. But definately don't wait till the end you will feel too big and uncomfortable so you won't enjoy the baby buying experience!

Seems a bit early tbh, most people don't go public until after the first scan at 12weeks- ish, although it may be good to budget it out . Also you may find new nursery items/colourways are launched over the coming few months ready to be in store in the new year. No harm in window/magazine shopping though.

Hi green,

I'm seven weeks pregnant and I started buying before I got pregnant. I would suggest if you buy anything, buy gender neutral and don't go too crazy. Anything you end up not using or needing you have three options 1. Save it a gift for a friends baby, 2. donate it to charity, 3. Return it.

A lot of stores including M and S have introduced a time limit on returns, even with receipt, so it may not be straight forward to get your money back. Better to put the money aside, perhaps open a special account and pay some in regulalry, and be organised about buying what you have seen nearer the time.

If you want to pick out a pram now then it may be a good idea to work out bulk/weight/cost/order times while you are still in reasonable shape to lift try them out and lift to gauge practicality. Yours would be a spring/summer baby so the clothes available atm, won't be the right season !

If you are happy buying stuff then go ahead - keep the receipts for stuff - not just in case anything happens but if you change your mind and find a different product you prefer or find it cheaper elsewhere. I am expecting my third in April and bought stuff at 7 weeks - my mum was the same! I will buy odd bits as I see them as I always regret not doing so later and the stock changes! I am planning to do my main shop at John Lewis in February when I finish work. I have been to have a look, got the catalogue, been oline and made a huge list....but I have also got stuff off ebay and second hand too!

i bought some socks when first found out . but then waited until 20 week scan so could buy girl / boy things....some people think it tempts fate..... why not buy something little , and then after 12 week scan, start getting the bigger things....or saving up !

you'll now find everyone has an opinion on your pregnancy and your baby -!

congratulations...
