Should be interesting! I'm hoping I am not the oldest swinger in town as there seems to be a lot of very young mums where I live. If it's full of 17 year olds, then I wont be going back! Not that I have got anything against 17 year olds, it's just I don't think I'll have much in common with them.

Also i wonder what they are going to tell me. There is only one posistion to give birth and that involves stirrups, no birth plans, routine episotomies, shaving, etc. etc.

I'm curious now, if it is standard for stirrups, shaving, episiotomies etc, what was discussed? How many classes are there?

Hope you enjoyed it!

It was blooming awful, after an hour i snuck out. Basically 50 woman in a very small room with bars on the window, sweating because it was so hot. It was basically a lecture, where the midwife barely drew breath, even the Spanish women were bored out of their minds. To make matters worse, the lecturer had a thick Andaluz accent and i could only understand one sentence in about 7. The basic gist was women have been giving birth for millions of years and it hurts but thats life!

Lucy
50 woman in a very small room with bars on the window, sweating because it was so hot..basically a lecture, where the midwife barely drew breath... sounds just like my first one in August! It didn't get much better, only fewer women every week and mats to lie on rather than hard chairs.

Yeah, I'm finding it so difficult to sleep too. All other pregnancy side effects seem to have got better but think my overactive bump is waking me up and achy legs are stopping me from dropping off. Was your ante natal class at the ambulatorio in town?

Yes, bloody awful! I did ring an English midwife, out of curiosity but she didn't have any groups , only private.

When are you due?

December 1st. We are now paying a private midwife as I want boyf to be involved too and there were NO men at the local classes(and not sure his Spanish up to a hour+ lecture). We can't really afford it but she comes to the house, stays 1-2 hours and has given us lots of info-she seems to know the system quite well.

She's called Lindsay, South African, based in San Pedro, maybe she was one you rang.

I rang someone called Jen, just wanted to meet a few other preggers people really and see if I could find out bits and bobs about giving birth in Spain.

I'm due on December the 5th, i'm surprised we weren't in the same class!

Probably coz i was convinced I was 12 weeks pregnant when I was actually only 9. When they realised, all future appointments were rescheduled except antenatal classes. Maybe I'll try going back again-or start the new ones-the other women in my group all had huge bumps and I felt a bit underdeveloped. Went to 2sessions after the initial sign-up one and then found excuse after excuse not to go back....
Have you been to the really grumpy gyno? (I love the word tocologo-toucher!) I had him 2day for my week 32 scan(on the tiniest screen!)-he always looks like he thinks he has the worst job in the world.
