When did you get your bump?

I am 20 weeks now and still have no bump whatsoever, and dont think I have felt any flutters or kicks. When did you get your bumps or feel kicks? i thought i would have had a small bump by now.

Hi Kulashaker,

I was about 21/22 weeks before mine started to pop out a bit. It just looked like I'd put on weight before then and gone thicker round the middle. I also have an anterior placenta so I felt very little for a long time. The odd flutter which felt like a muscle spasm but nothing more until much later at around 28 weeks. It's only really felt properly kicky for the last few weeks (I'm 37+6 now) and even then only on the sides of my tummy. Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

Also, if it's your first baby the bump can take a lot longer to appear. In my ante-natal class the difference in how much people were showing at each stage of my pregnancy was quite fascinating - everybody is different.

I have my scan next week (for some reason they do scans at 21 weeks), i will ask about my placenta, maybe that has something to do with it...

i am just feeling a little fat at the mo :-( i am getting upset as i dont feel pregnant at all, and even though i have had scans, it still doesnt feel real,

I started feeling things about 16 weeks (bubbles, flutters) Full on kicks at about 20, now at 28 weeks I can pretty much see my belly dancing!

As I'm a size 16 and only 4ft11 I'm pretty plumb, so I'd say I've only just got what I would call a "bump" All though I still have my spare tyres too, It's much more rounded below my boobs!

We're all different. I have a friend who couldn't feel much unti 30 weeks! She had to keep going for scans and everything was always fine, she barely looked pregnant until the very end :)

I felt kicks from about 17 weeks, started showing a little bump from about 5 months (but I think I really just looked fat) - it's only now at 30 weeks that I look obviously pregnant - and I'm gauging this from the fact that people seem to feel ok asking me when I'm due!

I had a bump of sorts at 14 weeks, and felt flutters around then too. I was told repeatedly and tiresomely that I was having twins (I'm not) and asked if I was sure it wasn't wind (I have been on this planet nearly 30 years, I know what a sodding fart feels like).

Every pregnancy is different it would seem. My placenta turned out to be high and at the back, which pushes baby forwards so you both look bigger and feel every kick earlier. My cousin's bump didn't pop until really late, and she felt her baby kick at around the 22 week mark. Post pregnancy her figure looks fantastic.

o suddenly popped overnight at about 24weeks, up till then I just looked chunky Grin.

I had a anterior placenta too so didn't feel much in the way of movements till they were really strong at about 30ish weeks.

I was a size 10 and 5ft 3 I'm now a size 14 10weeks post birth so am not too fussed, 9months on 9months off I say.

4ft 11", size 18, 24 weeks and the top of my stomach looks quite rounded but no bump as of yet! Am feeling things though- mostly when the midwife uses the doppler and he hoofs it off, or when I listen to the Smiths oddly (baby either loves them or hates them it seems...)

I love how much this varies, so interesting! First of all, I don't think it matters so don't worry about it. I didn't show until 7 months (I'm 5 foot 7, size 6 or 8) and my baby was big so it really doesn't mean much. My father found it very funny though how late I showed and kept asking me if I'd eaten the baby! I think, like stretch marks, it's genetic, my mum didn't show until late on either.

I started getting a bump at 20 weeks with both my kids. I never had a huge bump with either though. I'm naturally slim (was skinny in school till I "grew into myself" as I got older), so I don't know if that factored into it. I felt movement around 22 weeks - I think more for my son than my daughter, but I guess it probably doesn't depend on gender. I have no stretch marks either, but I rubbed vitamin E and cocoa butter into my stomach every day as soon as I knew I was pregnant.

1st time around my zumba students spotted bump at 9 weeks, plucked up the courage to ask at 10 weeks.

2nd time I couldnt get normal trousers on at 8 weeks.

I posted almost exactly the same thread a few weeks ago Smile

I'm 24 weeks on Saturday and only really approaching a 'real' bump now, but can still disguise it. If I wear maternity tops you see it more as they seem to contour the bump, but normal clothes (albeit mostly a size bigger) you would just think I'm chubby. I only told work last week, and even the midwife commented the last time I was there.
The baby is actually quite big (at the anomaly scan it's legs are measuring in the 82nd percentile) but I am wide hipped so it seems to be fitting in between them without protruding too much.
I've only really felt proper movement in the last 2 weeks or so, before that it was just bubbling/fluttering and v hard to detect unless I was quiet and still.

I was so bloated at 7 weeks I looked like I had one, I started wearing maternity pants then! Proper little bulge by 11 weeks. That said Im having twins.

I was feeling bubbles and an itchy feeling inside by 16 weeks, internal 'presses' by 21 weeks and then a good flick that could be felt on the outside at 22+4.
