Pregnancy

I need to moan :(

Really pleased to be pregnant with my second baby, but I feel sooooooo rough. I'm about 8 weeks now and have really bad indigestion pretty much 24/7 alongside the wonderful morning sickness. It's really getting me down. I can't take gaviscon because it makes me heave. My 2 year old has croup and I'm absolutely exhausted. All I'm doing it sitting around feeling sorry for myself and crying. Has anyone got any idea on how to get rid of indigestion, I feel like if I can somehow control that things would be so much better.

I'm in the same position, 8 weeks, with morning sickness, a toddler (thankfully without croup) and indigestion too. All I want to do is go to bed I'm so tired, but it's difficult with a little one. What I've found helps is light exercise, a walk in the fresh air relieves the nausea slightly and helps moves things through my system. Even if I don't feel like it, it has helped. And milk. I'm drinking it by the gallon, plus yoghurt.
Please ask friends and family for help, even if it's to cook you dinner or look after your little one while you rest in bed for an hour. These early days are tough when few people know but your health is important so do be kind to yourself.
Hope your little one gets better really soon and the morning sickness lessons. I really feel for you, x

I have tums instead of gaviscon. You can have up to 7 a day. No good when you leave them at work though Hmm

Go to the doctors and ask if they can prescribe you something stronger for the indigestion.

I'm 34 weeks with dc2 and felt so awful with the morning sickness, it didn't seem to end and it's harder when you have another DC to look after at the same time. I found drinking lots of milk helped my indigestion/ heartburn and a lot of cbeebies for poor old DS!

I would say in the last week or so that I'm about ready to collapse and have fallen asleep on the settee more than once in the daytime to be woken up by DS shouting "wake up mummy"!

Not very helpful but you're not alone if that's any help Brew

Another vote for Ranitidine. It's a proton pump inhibitor so stops your stomach getting so acidy. I was surprised by how much this affected my nausea! I take 150mg twice a day. Totally pregnancy safe. Don't let yourself get dehydrated. Hope you and toddler feel better soon.

Went to the docs he gave me omeprazole and also some anti sickness tablets. Although I'm a bit reluctant to take the anti sickness as they can make you really drowsy. I'm struggling with tiredness as it is without some tablets putting me to sleep. Going to try the omeprazole - does anyone know if its something that will work straight away or does it take a few days. I only ask because I had one a lunch and I don't appear to feel much better! Do I just need to wait? So desperate for them to work!!
