Pregnancy

When did you have a real 'bump'?

I was 19 weeks at the weekend, but I can't really see anything yet- I just look a bit tubby. If I wear a maternity top I look a bit more pregnant, and the last few weeks what bump there is seems to have crept a bit higher, but overall not a lot to see.
I also haven't put on weight, I'm a size 14-16 and quite wide-hipped, so was trying to put on too much anyway, though I haven't been eating super healthy either.

Is this normal? At my previous scans the baby was bang on size for dates etc and no issus.
The only thing was my BP was slightly low but it was pre-preg anyway.
Is a small bump anything to worry about? I can't find anything in particular online and my next scan isn't for 2 weeks.

I would say I looked pregnant in the mid to late 20 weeks. Before that I could have put on weight but if you knew I was pregnant you would notice.

P.S everyone is different so don't worry. The midwife would say if she was worried :)

I had a proper bump at 19 weeks, but I'm petite and all bump so it's a lot more obvious. I think if you are smaller in frame you tend to show a lot earlier as nowhere to hide the bump x

Hmm maybe it will just surprise me and pop out one day Wink
My employer doesn't know yet so in a way it is a good thing but obviously not if there are potential issues.
I think I have felt some movement the past few nights also Smile

Cherry that's what I'm thinking- I have wide hips and would carry weight around thighs/stomach anyway so maybe that is disguising it a bit.

Cric, I haven't actually seen a midwife yet, though have an appt next week. I only saw them for my booking in scan/appt at 10wks then my dr for the 12 wk scan (though that was actually at 14/15 wks). My big scan is in 2 weeks time.

When I had DS I had no bump at all until I was around 23 weeks. I was 7&1/2 stone, and got a bump literally overnight. I didn't know I was pregnant though, and im convinced it was something 'psychological' that stopped me having a bump, because as soon as I found out my bump appeared!

I also didn't have a visible bump until around 22 weeks in my first pregnancy. It was only from week 22 to week 23 suddenly my bump hardened and moved upwards a bit (if that makes any sense) that it started to properly show. Don't worry if measurements are OK it's all prob. fine.Do share your concern with the midwife and ask her to measure your bump - I think they start doing it at 20 weeks. Bumps come in all shapes and sizes, some grow faster than others! With my DS I swear I had a visible bump from week 8!

Roughtyping, you know I've been wondering if it's maybe because I haven't told work (new job, waiting to hear if it's perm or not before I tell them) that it's making me hold it differently or something. DH has said a few times at weekend that he thinks he can see a bump now but then has said a few days later that he can't see it as much.

I think every pregnancy is different and every woman's shape is different so I really wouldn't worry Smile x

I got to about 25/26 weeks without having a proper bump... just looked like I'd eaten too much :-/ Then one weekend it just changed and turned into a proper pregnant belly. I guess everyone is different, a work colleague had a lovely, cute bump from about 14 weeks.

peppermint would be SO interested to hear if it becomes more obvious as soon as you tell them! But as others said, everyone's different, particularly if this is your first pregnancy I think. I went from no bump to being fed up of people telling me how huge I was!

Peppermint, I think we might be bump twins. I am 19 weeks, measuring bang on for dates so far. I am also the same dress size as you (and same body shape by the sounds of it). I think you can probably tell I'm pregnant when I'm in my undies but fully clothed in non maternity clothes (which mostly still fit) I just look like I've had a big carby meal. My theory is that we just have roomy pelvises and are used to sucking in our tummies. Height makes a difference too, if my sample of friends is representative. More petite ladies (in both dimensions) will obviously grow outwards more quickly. I've just started feeling a few wriggles too - exciting times!

Moggins, we do sound the same! I went to pregnancy yoga for the first time last night and felt like I should have said "yes I AM pregnant!" Smile
