Gastrointestinal upset during pregnancy

Hi All,
am just wondering if anyone has experienced similar to me. On last pregnancy in last 2 weeks I got a middle of the night 2-3 hour episode of bloating, rumbling fizzing popping bpwel sounds, followed by diarrhoea and then severe vomiting, and then nothing, completely fine. This happened twice and i thought it must be some hormone thing clearing me out before the birth, it was the same both times and not related to food etc.
Then it happened one night 4 months after the birth and the next day I got my first period post-natal. Now am 22 weeks pregnant and last night it happened again, woke up with the dreaded bowle sensation, lots of gurgling and popping, diarrhoea and 2 hrs later the nausea culminated in severe retching and vomiting, then nothing, off to sleep.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is it hormonal?
Thanks for any advice

Hi Leax,

Im really glad you put this post here, i had no trouble up until about 25weeks pg and i was staying at my brothers, i had awful griping (sp?) and diarrhoea and my sil told me she had it all the way through with her pgs and she was surprised i hadnt had it before. It eased off but then from about 28weeks onwards i get a bad stomach first thing in the moring and go to toilet and by about 11 i have the horrible griping again and also the bloating and the popping you described i also feel like im going to be sick but never actually have, it is then usually ok again until the evening, it is the same pattern everyday. Im not sure what causes it though, im hoping someone else can shed some light!?

I get upsets if I eat/drink certain things, apples and brocolli being the worst offenders, thought I was in labour last Sunday, it was so bad! Try and make note of what may trigger theses bouts.

Hope you get to the bottom of it, (excuse the pun, lol)

K.x

Thanks for the replies, tis a strange old thing (and totally horrendous), I also get this sulphur/eggy type taste in my mouth when I belch during these episodes (lovely I know), and then i know that sometime in the next 3 hours I'll be head down in the bowl
LeBe even though you haven't vomited you don't sulphur burps do you?

Dont really know what Sulphur burps are to be honest but i do get burps and most of the time im a little bit sick and then swallow it (sorry tmi!!) Also i know they say about certain foods but as i said before, mine is the same pattern everyday no matter what ive eaten or drunk. I do suffer with IBS normally do you think that makes a difference? Do you normally suffer Leax?

Oh thats good (not that your suffering i mean good you dont normally suffer) it was just something that i thought of might be causing it. I really am stumpped with mine and am now resolute to the fact im gonna be like it until i drop and probably after knowing my luck, but its another one of those things you have to just say 'it will be worth it'
