Help I think I've got a UTI

Need to pee often but not much coming out, painful towards end of the wee. Only started today, I've just done a urineanalysis test (nurse at work) and I've got blood and protein showing. I'm 16 +3

I had one last week, the doc was able to give me some antibiotics. . Kefalexin is the most common one in pregnancy that they use. Get yourself to the docs, the earlier you get on them the better.

Are UTI's really dangerous in pregnancy? I know I should search but I've just read they cause premature labour?

Utis in pg are always treated as a precaution, they are only dangerous if they spread to your kidneys, and if they are treated fairly promptly this is unlikely to happen.

See your gp, they will prescribe an ab safe for pregnancy (avoid trimethoprim) and you will be fine.

I had several during my pg (unfortunately got one every time I had sex!) and my dd was absolutely fine! Never had one outside of pg, you are more prone to them unfortunately! Be prepared to maybe get thrush, I seemed to have an endless cycle if uti, abs, then thrush unfortunately!!

See you dipped your urine - they will then most likely treat you on clinical suspicion alone so you may just need a phone consultation if you are busy at work (I am an f1 dr so know how hard it is to get to your gp sometimes!) or they may prefer to dip/msu themselves.

Really don't worry, if no leuks/nitrites are showing yet you will probably catch it in plenty of time. utis are treated promptly just in case in pg, whereas there will maybe be more of a watch and wait approach normally, but serious complications from utis are still fairly rare even in pg . Best to see /speak to your gp sharpish though just to be sure.
