I'm sorry but... Poop!

I either can't go or can't stop! What's the deal with that?! Never had this problem with my other 2.
I suffer from ibs anyway, but more often than not now, it's becoming a bit of an issue... Stomach cramps followed by the D! Yuck. Usually short-lived but unpleasant none the less. Anyone else having similar problems? I'm almost 24 weeks and this has bed. Going in about 2 weeks now. Fed up!

I've been massively constipated the whole time, and the things that 'fix' it change all the time, so I can't even keep going with something consistently that will work. Means that I have a few weeks of something working (all bran, fibrogel, baked beans, loads of fruit, dried fruit etc), then a few days of hell where nothing shifts it, and I have to play around with other things to find something that works to break the new blockage.

Just had one 4 day spell of nothing happening, combined with raging heart burn. I just stopped eating anything other than all bran and nectarines and heart burn tablets.

The digestion thing has been a nightmare all along. I'd pay good money for a dose of the shits.

I am fed up of going once a day but everything not really working properly. I just really want to go for a cr*p without sitting there for 20mins, then to have a wipe afterwards and actually feel clean. I really miss having working sphincters!!!!!!

Haha you lot crack me up! I have had extreme constipation followed by 'the shits' as goats so eloquently put it! Seems to alternate but my body seems to be favouring the latter for now. Maybe it's down to me eating and drinking more sugar free stuff now cos I can't have sugar? Guess I'll never know.
Thanks for your oversharing ladies Grin

I was extremely constipated from 5 weeks onwards - lactulose every day and still suffering - then had a tummy bug around 28 weeks and have been fine since??

Pregnancy sucks!!

It certainly does! I'd have 10 kids(well, maybe not!) if the pregnancies were smoother!

I will join you!
Just had a poo today for the first time in a week. Felt like announcing it on FB! Water water water water is my solution - and as much fruit as you can stomach. Have laid off the heartburn solutions as apparently they cause constipation (FFS!!)

Am dancing a 32 week jog here that at least this week's poo hasn't caused a reappearance of the Piles from Hell. Every cloud...

Having said that I go once a day. My body gas managed 3 times overnight now !! And not loose or anything. Have got through nearly a whole roll of loo roll in 12 hours.

Have swung between constipation and cramps/squits since about 10wks. Just glad the dreaded bum grapes haven't (yet) appeared, friends took great delight in telling me I'd get them :/

ohthegoats · 26/08/2014 16:43

I've had no bum grapes, and disappointingly, no massive farting problems. Those were the things I was promised in pregnancy!! I didn't know heartburn medication caused constipation, but I can't really do without them. Exhausted from lack of sleep + heartburn + crying due to heartburn + constipation, is worse than just constipation!!

Anyway, today we had the toilet cistern taken off as part of a bathroom renovation - we don't have an alternative toilet, so it's flushing with a hose and a bucket for a week. Obviously while they were doing this, I had to go to Sainsburys for a poo. No doubt I'll now have the opposite problem to constipation all week - sods law!

Bum grapes. I tell you, I am usually a bit of a trooper, but these feckers were nearly the end of me!

Doing sod all for my sex life, either...

Sex? What's that again?! I've so far escaped the grapes...Hmm

This is my 4th pregnancy and have never felt like this with the others - like you say stomach ache when I wake up and then the good old runs sporadically during day/evening/night which has been awful during school holidays trying to find excuses why we can't go out without letting the cat out the bag!

Am off to see midwife tomorrow so am going to share this delight with her!

I've been very constipated this pregnancy. I have had 4 (!!!!) impaction and now have been blessed with piles. Currently taking lactulose every other day but scared to poo because the piles pop out. One week (6 days but who's counting) until eviction day...

I've had similar problems and GP suggested taking probiotics (10 billion units) and these have settled things considerably! Apparently needs to be reasonably high dose as those yoghurts don't contain enough to really be effective. He also said a recent study found taking probiotics in 3rd trimester and then when breastfeeding saw a drop of 50% in babies having asthma so worth a try I reckon.

Loveallmyboys · 27/08/2014 13:50

Do the probiotics help constipation or diarrhea?

Hahaha... yes I'd heard about that. I've got Anusol in my hospital bag on the advice of a mate who had major problems after pushing for 2 hours!

Let me know how you get on with that...I imagine it might be as useful as shaking a stick at a bear Grin
