Thanks for the new thread purple :)

Fantastic scan news purple and baby

finally back from avery loooong day at foetal medicine. I was asked yet again if I wanted the amnio, and again asked to reiterate my reasons for declining, however, hopefully this is the end of that line of questioning. I think that they have accepted that I am not prepared to take the risk of another MC, and that that it wouldn't affect any decisions anyway.
They repeated the detailed scan today. The inter hemispheric cyst remain unchanged, so I have been referred to a neurologist for an in utero MRO of the baby's brain, and a specialist opinion. n the meantime, foetal medicine will keep a close eye on me. No other abnormalities were seen however, and this does not constitute a marker for DS, but a different problem in its own right... Not sure how I feel about that, but will have to wait and see until seeing the neurologist in 6 weeks time.
Another upshot of todays scan was that baby refused to keep still, or lie the right way, so the scan took over an hour. However, whilst awkward, baby is also an exhibitionist, and whilst I didn't actually want to know, he made a full somersault with his legs wide open, waving his testicles for all to see.

silver, I certainly would have considered th harmony or NIFTY test if I had had concerns raised earlier - I was over 17 weeks by the time they recommended an amnio and feeling regular movements. DH and have agreed that should we have any more, we would opt for the one of these tests as early as possible for peace of mind. DH and both agree that an diagnosis of DS would not be an issue to us, and we would continue, however I suspect I might feel differently and would like to be aware of more sinister abnormalities. I hope that you get the results you want, and that your wait passes as quickly and uneventfully as possible xx

Hi all.
Just posting to mark place really. No news, which I'm a bit disappointed in, but I guess 37+5 is a tad too soon for baby to make an appearance.

Hi to all the newbies :-)
And yay to all the good scan news.

And squizita perenial stretching?! Shock I never even contemplated this, now I'm thinking perhaps I should have done x

Good news on the scans purple holly and baby :) lovely to hear :)

Welcome jnl and lauren I too had loads of bleeding/spotting in the early weeks like cake so please don't get too disheartened

silver sorry you've still got so much uncertainty :( really hope the wait passes quickly. Also I know I've not had the same experience as you so can't really understand I guess but I just wanted to say that I personally don't think there's a universal 'right' answer for the decision you might have to make, there's only an answer that's best for you at that moment in time.
As you said there's a 34 chance all is okay but just wanted to give you massive hugs and a huge dose of posifrikintivity, I've got absolutely everything crossed for you x

Term squiz?! That's awesome! Grin
Yay for scan news purple, hollyben and baby - that's all fab. And thinking of you silver Thanks. Hi to the new joiners too Smile

12 week scan here is a week on Monday - starting to panic a little! Also gearing myself up for a bit of a battle with my bloods being taken - it is literally like getting blood from a stone with me. I really don't have a problem with blood being taken, but I do object to be stabbed several times and the whole thing taking forever because the person doing it isn't great with "difficult bleeders"! Phlebotomist and a butterfly needle for me please!

Also confused that I've got another consultant appointment through the post for the next working day after the one that is already booked - going to check when I go for my scan whether they've moved the first one and not been clear about doing so, or whether I am actually supposed to have 2 consultant appointments (with different consultants). Hmm weird Hmm. Just sent off for my notes from Tommies for my prem birth with DS - my consultant is requesting them anyway but I'd like to have my own copy.

MrsG how long til the planned date if things don't kick off?

Today we are pregnant, ladies!

Yay for positive scan news!

Just marking my place here on the new thread. I feel really good today, almost normal save the massive boobs! Is this the end of morning sickness or should I be worrying....! Hopefully the first option!

Ok so when other people went for their booking with the consultant were you guys asked multiple times if you wanted the DS screening? I lost count today of the number of times I was asked Hmm

Sorry to hear Cuppa and Silver are still in limbo so to speak. :( Nothing worse than waiting for news. FX when the answers come they are reassuring.

Tea Good luck for Monday! Last year I had over 30 blood tests all included - now I seriously go to inexperienced nurses "try there that's always a good spot!" LOL!! If it wasn't in my elbow I'd do it myself save them the frustrated jabbing.

Baby I got asked if I wanted "all the tests" but just once. Sometimes they do put their foot in it and ramp up the anxiety when they are just box ticking.

Quick question for those of you with DCs - raspberry leaf tea. When do you drink it and how much? Over the last two days several people have said "37 weeks, buy some RL tea it's great" but I don't quite know what to do with it! I know it can prepare you for labour and prevent going overdue... but I don't want mini squiz to pop out in Primark after I've been over enthusiastic with it! Grin

squizita · 23/08/2014 11:56

... well the old wives at the health food shop say it prevents overdueness! Grin But they once sold me a pebble they said prevented sweat as well as deoderent so I'm dubious!

Hey everyone, unfortunately it wasn't great news for me I started bleeding really heavily last night and the hospital confirmed miscarriage
That will be number 4 for me so becoming a pro
I'm really sad as for some reason I felt a bit different this time.
Good luck to you all Smile

So sorry jnl Thanks

squiz I drank rasberry leaf tea with DS at 37 weeks I don't know if it worked or not lol I was induced at 38 weeks as my waters broke and he decided he was happy where he was. I've never heard of it doing any harm so it's worth a try although I have to say it tasted nasty lol

Jnl so sorry to hear your news.
Squiz I drank raspberry leaf tea in the last few weeks with my ds. I can't say it helped with overdueness as he was 10 days late but when he did decide to make an appearance he came quick - 7 hrs start to finish! I think it's supposed to tone up your uterus!!

Report
squizita · 23/08/2014 13:58

Jnl really sorry to hear. :( Do now push for tests and support, after 4 they have to do this on the NHS. This time last year I was in your situation, turned out I had something they can medicate.

Thanks for the tea advice. Will a cup a day be OK or should I really be swigging it??

HollyBen · 23/08/2014 14:18

So sorry jnl Take care of yourself xx

sqiz no harm is raspberry tea I guess. I was drinking a couple a day from 38 weeks. DD was born at 41+4 so I don't think it had any effect for me! My cousin gave me it as she swore it helped with her DS
