Your OH is looking over your shoulder....

Yes he spotted it, not just the old sex to induce but the whole oral sex, swallow bit....

But even worse...I'm so desperate to get this baby out now...I followed Google's instructions.

The shame of it...OH is grinning like a Cheshire Cat Hmm

Ive gone crazy, pregnancy has made me crazy!!

Er..I think I'd have gone with the pineapple. Oh well. Hope it works.

Lucy

allisgood1 · 05/08/2014 19:05

Really? Never ever heard of that method!

ImNotAFlower · 05/08/2014 19:07

I'm 38+2 and this made me genuinely laugh for the first time today... My husband says he NEEDS it to work (and for you to post if it does).... I'm with Lucy why not the pineapple?! Grin

MrsGiraffe12 · 05/08/2014 19:07

Ive heard of this. Something to do with the prositiglandins in semen being good for cervical dilation, but due to enzymes apparently better if swallowed. I bet this research into swallowing it was written by a man haha x

ElleDubloo · 05/08/2014 19:12

Haha Grin That's hilarious.

How come it works better when swallowed though? Surely if you swallow it, the prostaglandins get digested in your stomach, whereas with the other method they are applied directly to the cervix?

Boudica1990 · 05/08/2014 19:13

Im a bit campy now but that's about it lol

Yes apparently the hormone used to induce labour is in semen and is better absorbed in to the blood stream via the gut wall lining than through the vagina. I can sorta see the science behind it, but right now if someone said hanging myself by my tits and swinging back and forth for a hour would induce labor I probably would haha Grin

I've already eaten 3 tins of pineapple chunks in juice, I can't eat any more I will vomit haha

For the pineapple to work, you need replicate the level of enzyme and this means you have to eat 8 in one sitting, including skin and leaves. It isn't physically possible sadly. The prostaglandin thing is also theoretical. It is present and it is associated with labour induction but the tiny amount in semen will not induce labour. All research shows it just isn't possible to induce labour at home.

Of course all your dh might hear is that you need to give him multiple blowjobs over an evening. If he does just tell him to produce the goods solo and mix it into a cup of tea. You've done enough.

Lally112 · 05/08/2014 19:20

Aww I'm jealous OP, for every one of ours DH gets to a point where he is reluctant because 'it might hurt the baby' and other bollocks. It could be sores though DH was there for one of my sweeps and heard the doctor say 'lets just give his head a tickle' and vowed never to have sex during that pregnancy again.

Boudica1990 · 05/08/2014 19:25

Showy...I'll suck the man dry if I have to....like some sort of weird semen vampire right now Blush

Ahh well anything is worth a go, and OH is happy with himself.

Oooh good luck!! I hope it works haha!! Do let us know :)

mupperoon · 05/08/2014 19:32

Our NCT teacher was adamant that BJs were the way forward. Thanks for the solidarity, sister!

Unless it tastes like aniseed Gaviscon I can't imagine being able to swallow. At 41 weeks I am keen to get this baby out but heartburn is pretty serious now!

ShyGirl1001 · 05/08/2014 19:34

You've not seen the Michael McIntyre sketch on this then? Pure brilliance. His wife made him do it in a cup apparently...

I hear hanging yourself by your tits and swinging back and forth works a treat for inducing labor...

MummytoMog · 05/08/2014 19:49

Clary sage, pulsatilla pillules, shagging, lifting heavy objects and nipple tweaking. I would rather go two weeks over than give a blow job.

allisgood1 · 05/08/2014 20:01

Raspberry leaf tea always worked for me

Shahsham · 05/08/2014 20:08

Walking up 6 flights of stairs daily set off labour for DS1 (born 38+5)

Catching toddler DS1 zooming down a hill on a scooter set off labour for DS2 (born 39+4)

Both were preferable to me than BJs during pregnancy cos of 9 months of morning sickness! (Both pregnancies)

Boudica1990 · 06/08/2014 20:17

Well baby has been served his eviction notice, he has till sunday to come out or induction it is.

Impast the point of cacaring now how "bad" an induction is I just want this baby out!!

A MW friend of mine told me to drink liquorice root tea. I'm slightly nervous as apparently it's dangerous in early pregnancy (can cause miscarriage) but I guess that's exactly why it's effective in late pregnancy?

AntoinetteCosway · 06/08/2014 20:35

Why Sunday btw OP? Will you be 42 weeks? You don't HAVE to be induced for being post-dates remember-it's up to you. Apologies if it's another reason.

NotMrsTumble · 06/08/2014 20:41

I can't actually face pineapple after eating my not insubstantial body weight in the things trying to evict dc2 after a bad experience when dc1 was induced. Worked though,dc2 was spontaneous labour at 39+4, & I swear the truckload of pineapple I forced myself to eat in week 39 with dc3 also resulted in his arrival at 39+5. But as far as I'm aware it has to be fresh pineapple (& you have to eat the core too)

Would sending dp out for enough pineapples to make him look like the man from Del monte wipe the smile from his face?

Looking for the Michael Mcintyre bit but instead found this one:

Boudica1990 · 06/08/2014 22:03

I have maternal tachacardia and unexplained losses of consciousness I pass out 4/5 times a day, sometimes in my sleep too.

I will be 40 weeks on Sunday.
