Pregnancy

Contraceptive rod

Hello, I have been on the contraceptive rod since January 2013. I have never had a period since it's been in which has been great. I have been in a relationship for about 9 months and recently got engaged.
For the past 2-3 weeks I've been feeling very bloated, sore breasts to the point where they can't be touched, shattered, strange tugging pain around my belly button and a dull ache in my stomach (a bit like period pain but not as bad)
My other half and I have been googling and all the signs point to pregnancy? Surely not as I am on the contraceptive rod? Just wondering if anybody on here could help with advise or previous experience?

Thanks

Have you POAS?

No not yet, thinking of nipping out of work tomorrow to do one but as I've only been feeling this for a few weeks I wasn't sure if it would show?

If you haven't been menstruating, there's no way to predict exactly when to test but you wouldn't normally expect pg symptoms until hormone levels had risen far enough to be detectable.

The failure rate is very low though.

Are you on the Nexplanon thread? if not, you might find it helpful to have a read.

When I was on it I rarely had a period (once a year perhaps) and did have pregnancy type symptoms due to the hormones. Test though to set your mind at rest.

Yeah definitely going to do a test tomorrow, although this isn't the time I planned on having a baby I think I'll be a bit gutted if it's a negative. I'm in a really happy relationship and we're both a bit excited about what could be. Yes I am on nexplanon, seems to give women a lot of trouble but I've always been fine :) thanks for all of your answers x

Time to have it taken out, from what you say, whichever way a test goes.

I agree! It's a bit of a 50/50 thing for us, we both want to get pregnant but I've always wanted to be married before we had children
