Foot pain

I'm 34+1 and have swollen feet and ankles which is normal I know, but one foot is very painful underneath in the arch. It's worse first thing in the morning and absolute agony to put weight on it. I feel like I don't want to walk anywhere but mindful I need to keep active.
Dr. Google seems to think fallen arch, so I bought some insoles but very stupidly realised when I got home they won't go into my flip flops! My feet are too swollen to squash into 'proper' shoes.
I'm sure the doctor won't be able to prescribe anything other than rest.
Does anyone have any advice as to what else I can do, if anything. I suppose its just going to be another one of those put up and shut up problems is it?

Why don't you pop and see the GP? It sounds like it could be tendonitis - this can sometimes happen when everything gets really relaxed in your foot and you are carrying excess weight, affecting the normal mechanical action of the tendons. I would avoid the arch supports while pregnant, you don't want to inadvertently force parts of your feet to weight bear that normally wouldn't, which might happen with everything a bit looser in there at the moment.

If it is tendonitis, GP should be able to give you stronger painkillers if you're in agony, though Paracetamol should ease the pain if not any inflammation. Rest, ice and support should help whatever the problem is! Try a Tubigrip around the foot maybe, making sure it goes a little way up your ankle to ensure you're getting sufficient support?

I speak with no authority other than having a physiotherapist mother who is obsessed with pedal mechanics, I'm afraid, so definitely double check with a medical professional! Smile

Gah, by 'excess' weight I mean the baby, obviously, not that you're too heavy! Terrible phrasing, my apologies!

Thanks twiglet not offended in the slightest, I have put on rather a lot of weight!
I'll go see GP & lay off the supports! Thanks for the advice :)
