is pregnancy related sickness counted as normal sickness

I was signed off work with pregnancy related illness at about 15 weeks my work went nuts I was off sick previously for about 10 days after an op but they are lumping my pregnancy related sickness and that all in one can they do this as they top up my wages for so mabny weeks

You can't be penalised for pregnancy related illness and it can't me put on your sickness record either as it is separate from normal. Sickness. I'm not too sure on how it works with pay but I know it's different than normal sickness

I think in terms of pay, it's treated the same as any other sickness- but this possibly varies according to individual organisations.

In terms of your sickness record and any related attempts to get HR involved to give someone a warning/sack over sickness, sickness related to pregnancy doesn't count.

If you're sick in the 4 weeks before your mat leave starts, your employer can insist that you start your mat leave early - you have no say in this.
