Sore hips and buttocks!

Hi everyone

I'm 25 weeks with DC 2 and have been in some considerable pain for about a week now. My hips, buttocks and down the back of my thighs are killing me - more pronounced on right side of body. I'm just uncomfortable all the time and struggle sleeping. I realise that it's obviously just the way baby is lying or my ligaments etc loosening but really need advice on anything that might make me more comfortable. Can anyone help please?

I have similar (19w+3) and get a little relief when sitting on my gym ball and gently swivelling my hips. Other than that I'm trying to "engage my core" to support it all, but not with any great effect.

I have had issues with all my weight going onto one side of my pelvis when I sleep on my left. Memory foam pillows help but apart from that I get up and have a little walk around in the middle of the night! Not perfect, but it works a bit!

I'm 24+4 and have EXACTLY this - lower back, both buttcocks, and down my thighs - worse on the right. I think its sciatic. Has been made worse by three weeks holiday at parents in law with shite mattress and lots of long car journeys. Getting gradually better now that am back on my amazing worth-every-penny-Tempur mattress....
Am going to mention it to MW at next appt and see if I can get a referral to a physio. There must be some exercises I can do.

Go to your GP and ask for a physio referral; you may have pelvic girdle pain. They can give you support belts and exercises and help reduce the pain. Take some paracetamol too.

Thanks for your replies. We have a good mattress and I've been sleeping with pillows between my legs and lying on my left side. Just wondering of it's worth getting a foam pillow as current ones are goose feathers. I'm trying to avoid seeing a physio (silly, I know!)

Sounds like PGP-you need to tell your midwife as if it gets worse you're in for a very painful final trimester. I've seen a physio and an osteopath and the latter was considerably more helpful. Desperate to avoid crutches.

I will definitely mention it at my next appointment. Thanks.

I had exactly same- pain was unbearable. For me the pregnancy belt worked like magic. I know it's not for everyone so, if you don't want to waste money on smthg that isn't working try first swaddling yourself with a scarf or elastic support from boots while at home for about an hour and see whether your are getting any relief. If yes - just order a belt from amazon.I wouldn't be able to wait for Phisio

Get yourself to the doctors & nagg your midwife if PGP. I started suffering around 26 same symptoms as you but no health professionals did anything to help. I'm now 38 weeks & I can barely contain the tears. I'm in some much pain that I'm going to ask consultant to get baby out. Please don't leave it as it will only get worse Thanks

I am 29 weeks plus I'm a sports physio. Sounds like locked up hip rotators are causing your sciatic nerve to pinch. Try to get a recommendation locally for deep tissue massage by some one trained to work on pregnancy. They will be able to loosen that up for you - fingers crossed :)

I have done since 18wks now 22weeks had SAME in last pregnancy and got midwife to refer early to physio this time had a telephone consultation fri and squeezed me in a cancellation for next Tue n posting me out a support belt.

Def get a referral early ours do a group session first then if exercise from that doesn't help u can ring n request one to one I just rang and said group session wasn't for me and they were fine.
