Baby hiccups and late scan

How often is it normal for the baby to have hiccups? I'm 33 weeks and last few weeks I have noticed it quite a lot. Sometimes 4 times a day. It feels like it lasts 5 to 10 minutes a time. I have had it wake me up at night.

I asked midwife and was told it's normal. Something I read in what to expect when you're expecting said that frequent hiccups might mean an issue with cord? Has anyone heard this?

I was thinking about getting a late scan. I an just feeling a bit paranoid at this stage. The closer it gets to due date the more anxious I get! Anyone had a late private reassurance scan?

DS was a massively hiccupy baby in utero and DS2, due at end on August, is the same. Sometimes I feels like its all day!

DS had reflux and is now three and still gets hiccups if he laughs too hard...

DD was very hiccupy in utereo and at 11yrs still is!
DS wasn't really which was a bit disappointing as DD wanted to see him do it :)

I was told that it was perfectly normal though a hiccuping baby in utereo when you are in the bath is possibly the most bizarre experience of my whole first pregnancy.

I'm 36 wks and have noticed it a lot mire frequently in last week. For me tends to be in the evening and can go on for over 10 mins. I've read that it's really common and nothing to worry about

Never heard that OP.

DS was incredibly hiccupy in utero. Turned out to have reflux, which it can be a sign of. I really don't think is anything to worry about.

DC.2 (I'm 37 weeks) hiccups in the evenings.

Dd was very hiccup-y when I was pregnant with her.

No problem with the cord but she did suffer pretty bad colic and reflux.

I've heard/read that hiccups in utero can be a sign of reflux later.

She doesn't suffer anymore but gets hiccups whenever she laughs too much now, really odd!

Both of mine were very hiccupy! Both cords were absolutely fine. Totally normal as far as I'm aware.

Dd1 used to drive me mad with hiccups all the time, especially as soon as I settled down in the evening and in bed. The constant twitching

She was born fine with no cord issues at all

The hiccups come about because baby is practising breathing and therefore swallowing amniotic fluid. I've never heard the cord issues thing.

DC1 was a champion hiccupper in utero, which was quite reassuring actually as the anterior placenta meant I didn't feel much else in the way of movement. He was born super healthy and is now a rampaging 3-yr-old!

Dd hiccuped all the bloody time! I read the same as you op and worried myself sick but she's absolutely fine!
Dc2 is now hiccuping away... Driving me mad!
Dd was a very sicky baby so I'm prepared for the same again.

I had a hiccupy baby while pregnant (never heard about the cord issue)there were no issues with him or the cord.

He does have a bit of reflux and is colicky, very interesting to read lots of people saying the same.
