Double barrel the first name to break up the name?

Unexpected Sat 19-Jul-14 21:49:21

Please don't do that to your poor child! She will be laughed at through life.

Redglitter Sat 19-Jul-14 21:50:39

cdh555 Sat 19-Jul-14 21:53:53

I've a very good friend called Heidi. Beautiful name IMO. But no, not if surname's Hynd. Not fair on the child.

HomeIsWhereTheHeartIs Sat 19-Jul-14 22:01:53

Please don't. You wouldn't want a name like that for yourself. Don't give it to your child.

Climbontoyourseahorse Sat 19-Jul-14 22:26:56

I love the name Heidi but have a very similar sounding surname and just couldn't do it to dd. I did think about using it as a middle name but it sounded wrong so we went with something else.

Only1scoop Sat 19-Jul-14 22:28:16

Not with your surname

NinjaPanda34 Sat 19-Jul-14 22:43:13

What about hyphenating it, Heidi-Mae or Heidi-Louise or something like that?

Norfolknway Sat 19-Jul-14 22:48:25

Great first name

Not with your surname I'm afraid

busyDays Sat 19-Jul-14 22:56:24

Nope, I wouldn't do it. They just don't go together.

WowserBowser Sat 19-Jul-14 23:00:57

No definitely not! Funny though grin

And no to hyphenated Mae. Done to death.

omgherecomesno2 Sat 19-Jul-14 23:04:11

what about heidi-lee hynde

JennyBlueWren Sun 20-Jul-14 07:25:18

Could keep Heidi for a middle name. Alliterative middle and surnames don't matter as much.

JennyBlueWren Sun 20-Jul-14 07:26:17

If they were both just the same first letter it'd be okay but with the hi and hi even with something in between it doesn't work.

BlueStarsAtNight Sun 20-Jul-14 07:51:57

Love Heidi but definitely not with your surname. She'd get Hi-de-hi'd at for the rest of her life !

ColdCottage Sun 20-Jul-14 07:58:26

Lovely name but agree sounds a but funny with surname.

Radical suggestion here - you all as a family change your surname! If you took your DH name then use your maiden name, or make a new one up.

ColdCottage Sun 20-Jul-14 07:59:05

Chynd perhaps?

TestingTestingWonTooFree Sun 20-Jul-14 08:57:37

Not with that surname.

aprilanne Sun 20-Jul-14 09:17:14

if you like it why not .my husband has a friend .david davidson

Redglitter Sun 20-Jul-14 17:45:45

Heidi lee hynde is even worse

Pobblewhohasnotoes Sun 20-Jul-14 17:52:43

Nope, not with your surname sorry.

And I agree, hyphenating it with something like Mae has been done to death and then some...
