Pregnancy

when did you start buying?

Im only 6(roughly, not seen a MW yet) weeks pregnant and iv already started buying new born nappies.. I also got a manual breast pump that was on offer, it was a steal so couldn't not buy it. Before anyone lectures about the breast pump, if I use it, I use it, if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out is the way I see it :)

We've had family ask to buy things already and ask what they can get for baby 2.

I waited till my first scan with my first before I bought anything. I think I'm getting a little ahead of myself and should probably stop now till my scan.

When did you lot start buying things?

I asked this same question at 6 weeks! I still haven't bought yet im 10 weeks on Monday. My 12 week scan is on the 21st so I might get a treat if all is well after that date.

I have been good and stayed away from clothes and other goodies! Although the temptation is bad. I planned on buying a pack of new born nappies with my weekly shop and put them aside.

Iv told everyone to wait until my scan, I think if anything was to happen, a couple packs of nappies won't hurt me near enough as much as seeing baby clothes and accessories

We left it later for various reasons, partly fear of miscarriage, but mostly because we had been promised lots of stuff by family and friends, and also so we could take new stuff back if it wasn't suitable (e.g. if the baby is born too big for newborn clothes).

I have only just started buying things at 31 weeks.

Bought a few tiny second hand bits at 18/19 weeks but now we've had our 20 week scan I'm thinking about decorating the nursery and getting some furniture.

I was apprehensive too because of my history. Family have started buying for us but I won't have any of it in the house.

At 28 weeks I'm feeling a bit more relaxed. I have my hospital bag done already because my mum wanted to do something and I figured I'd need that regardless so it felt like a good place to start.

But I haven't actually bought her anything myself yet.

I'm just coming up to 11 weeks, and we haven't bought anything yet - but I got my second Bounty pack from Asda last night and it had little tiny pairs of socks in there....and now I want to buy some other bits!

We're holding off though as my best friend has offered me ALL of her baby things that she still has, as she is now done with babies, and is having to downsize her house suddenly, so she's told us we're doing her a favour! Everything from Moses baskets, to clothing, even a car seat! Money is tight and I have now seen just how great a friend she is - not that I didn't already know!

I wasn't going to start buying until after our 20 week scan. Then I joined some of the local For Sale pages on Facebook and saw lots of bargains that I just couldn't resist, like bundles of unisex baby clothes (we knew we weren't finding out the gender), a bouncy chair, a swinging chair, bumbo etc etc. Someone gave us a moses basket and lots of other stuff. Then I saw the pram I wanted second hand for an absolute bargain and just couldn't not buy it as it was going to save me hundreds, and then I bought the car seat to go with the pram as I saw it on offer, and then Aldi had a baby event...

I'm now 20+4, had the 20 week scan this morning (thankfully everything was perfect) and have very little left to buy, and a house full of baby stuff. However I have probably only spend about £300ish on everything and if I'd left it later may have ended up spending more.

Not until after the 20 week scan. I didn't want to risk being told something was wrong and then had lots of unusable baby stuff.

I don't see the point of buying things like nappies early to be honest, baby events are on all the time. Offers are endless.

I'm 36 weeks and still haven't bought everything or even packed a hospital bag! Think I was the same with DS.

around 6 months. I had a lot of early miscarriages so would never have bought anything at 6 weeks, or before the nuchal scan.

Pobble, we stocked up on new born and next size nappies with my first while pregnant, baby events are always on but we didn't always have the money to splash out on a box of nappies + shopping at once.

So happy we bought the odd pack and box of wipes when on offer (using Morrison's and little Angel nappies this time round, started with pampers for DD and wished I'd used these sooner) because we got through them in no time and the money we had each week could go on other helpful bits and bobs.

Think with our first we started buying the odd little bits after the first scan, then bigger things at a later date.

There are constantly sales on for baby stuff. I wouldn't buy too many newborn bits. You have no idea how big your baby will be. They may grow out of stuff quicker than you imagine.

Personally I waited until 6 months

started slowly at 18 weeks, then after the 20 week scan it was full steam ahead. am a teacher and wanted to do things in the holidays, when i had the time and energy, so all got sorted by may half term. now 34 weeks and looking forward to a relaxing summer so i'm pleased i did it that way.

I'm 10 weeks and I think if I saw something esp cute I might buy it but not actively looking (other than following links people put on here!), I think after the 12 week scan I'll buy something special and start making lists of what I want as I'd like to find as much as I can secondhand.

30 weeks tomorrow and have only bought 1 little top a few weeks ago, and that was because I just spotted it in a shop and it had text on it that I knew would really make my OH laugh (it did).
I've looked at loads of stuff, and have started looking at what crib we might get, but something has seemed to stop me actually buying! Don't know why!!

I'm 31 weeks and have a buggy and a cot mattress, but no cot. And I have a small sleeping bag. Still feels too soon to be buying things denial

We've been promised a few outfits, baby bath etc from friends so could count that too.

I started buying after 12 weeks as soon as I saw there was really a baby in there! Now at 35 I have everything including a packed hospital bag. I'm so glad as since 30 weeks I frankly don't have the energy, now I get to rest before he comes.
