I'm 25 weeks and I'm horribly constipated! I'm taking iron tablets as I'm anemic.

Is there anything apart from greens and fibre that I can take?

Thanks!

I had to be prescribed movical when pregnant, worked a treat. Tried all the other natural ways with no effect sadly.

After you've sorted the immediate problem, I would suggest changing pills. I'm assuming your on those horrible prescribed ferrous sulphate tablets? They played havoc with my insides! Try Floradix tablets, they have added herbs and things that make them easier to digest.

Yes I had to go on the laxatives too. I got lactulose from my GP and as long as I take it every day I'm fine. The natural remedies didn't agree with me and half the time I would end up going the other way!!

I'm 26 w and it's hit here too. Not much fun is it?!
I've bought some fybogel to try. Taste foul though.

Pint of orange juice and fybogel work for me or prune juice or figs. Beetroot juice is supposed to be good aswell but I've not tried that one yet. I'm thinking about changing my iron tablets as these ones don't agree with me either.

An entire bag of prunes. Do not leave the house.

Lactulose is your friend. Go to the GP and get some!

Seriously, I've had iron before and got horribly constipated but not this time.

Bin the iron tablets! Use spatone instead; Boots have it on 3 for 2 ATM. It's an iron supplement, completely safe and doesn't bung you up. It works a treat too, I really suffer without it.

For the constipation try lactulose or fybergel as others have suggested. I prefer lactulose personally. Get it in prescription.

Water water and more water. And I find the best cure is gentle exercise.

i was very low iron & the tablets made me feel so unwell. i took 2 spatone at once in a small glass of tropicana orange. no side effects & no foul taste. got iron levels retested & they are happy with the results. do not take dairy or tea/coffee an hour or so near it tho as it prevents effective absorbtion of the iron. its 3 for 2 in superdrug at mo too. one box has 14 sachets for £5ish but as i doubled up its a weeks worth. i dont mind 3 weeks worth costing £10 when the tablets were horrible

Thanks everyone. Yes I'm on those iron tablets I was told to take them with orange juice but it makes my acid reflux worse! Going to see the g.p tomorrow and ask for some lactulose.

Will ask for another type of iron too!

Thanks again :-)
