No foot spas? Whaaaaat?!

I just treated myself to a swanky foot spa as my feet ache so much these days. Then I made the fatal error of googling 'foot spas + pregnancy' and found a raft of warnings about contractions and early labour!

I'm 32 weeks today, and DESPERATE for a foot spa, it's the only treat I can think of that I would like right now. I'd only use a tiny bit of lavender oil with it, and a few Dead Sea salts. SURELY that'd be ok?

Anyone used one during pregnancy and been ok? Or has anyone gone into labour after using one?!

No they are safe, the internet kind of mixes them up with genuine too-hot things.

The reason you cannot use steam rooms or hot tubs (real advice) is that your body can overheat more easily and this would raise the temperature in your womb, which might trigger issues. This would be after you felt VERY hot/sweaty and so on: in most cases you would just get out but a pregnant woman might become dizzy/disorientated and not do this in time hence the warning.
With a foot spa this is far less likely, just make it nice and warm not boiling hot!

Think about how hot your feet can get in trainers etc!

I would use it sounds wonderful!! However I don't think you should use lavender oil I'm sure I heard something about it not being safe in pregnancy something to do with early labour?
I'm not 100% sure about that but you may want to just check.
Enjoy the bubbles!!

Apparently the water jets can trigger reflexology points in your feet. Or something. I don't do alternative therapy. I'm doing it anyway, my feet are so tired!

Re:lavender oil, I will literally use 2/3 drops, it's not like I'm going to rub a whole bottle of neat oil all over my feet!

The place I go to for manicures/pedicures and the odd massage are very hot on what is ok and not ok in pregnancy.

I have had 3 feet treatments since I was pregnant and have always had the footspa element - only once have I had to have the temperature changed as I was struggling to regulate my temperature!

It really does help!
