Sorry to be explicit but can somebody please advise me if it's normal to have on-off diarrhea during first trimester?

I did in 2nd pg, it went along with sickness. You should see your GP to be tested for infection if it persists. If all clear then put it down to hormones. It settled in 2nd trimester them returned with a vengeance at the end and into post natal period. Not pleasant! But weirdly it went in labour.

Thanks Tits that helps. Oddly enough I haven't really had any sickness, just this. It comes and goes, but when it comes it's there for a few days. I think it could be dirty food, I'm trying to be careful but I live in Burma and it's very difficult. Basically only what I can cook myself. :( I feel fine apart from that though so hope it will just pass soon. I'm 8w today.

I don't live in Burma, and I definitely had this problem! Along with serious excess gas! Wink It's pretty normal, I think - most people seem to have it either this way or the other. Mine lasted up until about 14 weeks but still makes the odd appearance now and then (am now 19+2). The most important thing is to stay hydrated as you are obviously losing more fluid than normal. If it persists I would just check in with your HCP to make sure there's not another underlying cause Smile

I had diarrhoea and gas throughout pregnancy. I'm now having my digestive tract investigated as it never went away, and the doctor think my pregnancy might have triggered something.

Just keep an eye on it. There's not a right lot they can do unless its really severe, as d&v is common in pregnancy.

I've had it since TTC...the pregnancy vitamins cause mine. Doc didn't think it was anything to worry about. Lots of women get backed up! X

I had this on and off in the first trimester (18 weeks now), it had settled down by week 12 and was probably more of an upset tummy than diarrhea. This, slightly sore boobs and 3 colds when I'm never usually ill are the only real symptoms I've had! My Sister said she'd had a similar upset tummy in the very early days of her 3 pregnancies too.

Hope you feel better soon X

Thanks ladies! I went to clinic yesterday as I was really getting concerned (it was the violent explosive kind, sorry TMI again) and they ran some tests, hey presto! Local infection, no danger to baby, but antibiotics required. Feeling better now, although I definitely think a proper solid poo is still a long ways away. Confused
