Hand holding and fish slapping...

Well done squiz for the new thread. Have been away with work, vv busy so barely been able to skim the end of last thread, but hope all are well and enjoying some posifrickintivity. Have been getting some kicks and pokes for the last few days, which is somewhat reassuring, but due to being away have had to delay my 20week scan until Monday (will be 21&2). Also have had to 'come out' about the pregnancy to a lot of people this week as I am now thoroughly showing. Can't help but feel that telling all and sundry before the anomaly scan is unwise, think I'm having a bit of a trout-requiring moment.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 20/06/2014 05:40

Can't believe we are on a new thread. I remember seeing lots of great scan news at the end of last one. So happy for you all.

corpore I'm impressed we are so small still at 20 week. I felt like a whale by then. I have to tell around 16-17 weeks because I looked really pregnant by then. Don't worry about the anomaly scan. As you say what else could you do?

squizita · 20/06/2014 07:17

Waves!

Sitting around having a cuppa ready to go off for my 28 week check up and GTD test (they phoned and said not to worry about fasting for some reason - still, just having a cuppa no sugar).
28 days today. Baby is wriggling. If all is well I might allow myself to buy stuff in mothercare this weekend. Excite!

OP posts:
GandTnow · 20/06/2014 07:56

5 weeks today! Feel like I've aged a hundred years already!

GandTnow · 20/06/2014 07:57

Hope all goes well today squizita

OneLittleToddleTerror · 20/06/2014 08:07

squizita that's very strange you don't have to fast? Maybe it's the new guidelines? I remember you are with St Mary isn't it? I was told not to drink or eat anything for 8 hours. And then when I got there, the woman told me I could have water! Not that I was actually thirsty. I was just starving. Good luck with your GTT.

Gwlondon · 20/06/2014 09:12

That is very odd about not fasting!

Thank you squizita for the new thread.

longestlurkerever · 20/06/2014 09:28

Ah, found you! Thanks squizita. Hope all goes well.

longestlurkerever · 20/06/2014 09:32

postit (from previous thread). Hope you got some reassurance from what cuppa said but if you are worried there's no harm in at least ringing the gp or midwife. I've never had bad cramping with either pregnancy or miscarriage, but have had quite bad round ligament pain with pregnancy - I guess everything is stretching and loosening up - seems to happen really early on.

TeaRex · 20/06/2014 11:06

Oooo, shiny new thread, thanks squiz
Nice to hear good news cuppa and mrsg hope we hear lots more from people :)
postit I had loads of stretchy pain when pregnant with my dd so it can happen and mean nothing at all but I agree with the others, any fears call your doc/midwife for a chat, hope that you're feeling better now though x

SeaSaltMill · 20/06/2014 11:46

Hey guys here's a question.
My lmp I'm 4 weeks 6 days but by ovulation I'm 4 weeks 4 days. However, I think I implanted early as I got my bfp at 9dpo. How far along would u say I was?

longestlurkerever · 20/06/2014 11:57

Sea salt. I am not sure either. My cycle is a tediously long 42 days so by lmp I am 8 weeks today but I know I am not as far along as that. I got my bfp on 3 June so I am counting that as my 4 week date, making me 6w+3 but accepting that I might be out by up to five days. The gp wasn't able to guess any more accurately - she just said it can be updated after my early scan next week.

squizita · 20/06/2014 13:09

Mystery solved about the GT test. St Marys starts all women with low risk off on a kind of 'basic' glucose test (and iron test) for which fasting isn't needed. In fact we got told off it we'd fasted. TBH I had one of my random 'pregnacare + nausea' moments this morning and puked my sugary tea up so was not deliberately fasting.

All looks and sounds very normal in there.

DH is therefore getting dragged to mothercare tomorrow: 28 weeks and all is well!

Squiz - glad all is well and hope you didn't go bankrupt in mother are Wink

Had a scan today at 9wks and strong heartbeat and could even see the little legs waving around Grin feel really happy though I am sure I will have another freak out in a week but only two weeks to go till the 12 week scan!

GandTnow · 20/06/2014 14:38

Brillant news Ellis! Really pleased you got to see a heartbeat and movement!!

Squiz, I think you certainly deserve a splurg in Mothercare!

Got a call from the GP's today who have booked me in for an appointmet with EPU on 4th July. I'm guessing it'll just be bloods if anything?

GandTnow · 20/06/2014 14:41

Also meant to ask, with monitoring with bloods, would this tell you about a MMC? Last time I had one and I still had ms and was getting a really big tummy by the time of the 12 week scan (baby died at 8 weeks).

Do the hormone go down or would there still be a chance of a mc being missed?

postitnotes · 20/06/2014 14:46

Thanks ladies. I am ok with the twinges and tweaks, it was the cramping and sharp pain that's got me worried. I did ring my surgery and ended up speaking to someone in gynae assessment but I don't want to worry my in-laws by going to their GP here (we're down here to help as MIL is in hosp and we told her our news on Weds to cheer her up, erk), so unless I get more pain or bleeding I think I'll just hold my breath all weekend and get to my GP on Monday and try and get a referral to the EPU.

GandT I start aging rapidly from every bloody BFP. And time crawls by. It's ridiculous.

longest and sea salt I am in the same boat. I had a bfp a week before I would normally expect AF so I'm taking that as 4w. I only tested because I had that metallic taste that I recognised. No idea when I ovulated though.

squiz can't believe you're still puking at 28w. That sucks. But great news all is good.

postitnotes · 20/06/2014 14:53

GandT I believe the levels would drop even with a mmc and that's what they check. Hormone levels really shoot up fast and keep getting higher and this wouldn't happen even if your body is holding on to a non viable bean. The danger is if you just have a one-off blood test as that would show hcg levels which could then be interpreted as a viable pregnancy (this happened to me)

squizita · 20/06/2014 15:13

G&T what can happen is they can go up but not smoothly in the right amount, too little or in random massive bursts. That happened with mine, and was an alarm signal IYSWIM.

However I don't know if sometimes it can be missed. Good luck with them! :)

Ellis those wiggly heartbeat scans are such a relief. :)

joosiewoosie · 20/06/2014 16:01

Hello. Found the new thread, thanks Squiz. Sorry I dropped off the other one. It was v fast moving and I struggled to keep up! Am trying to stay hopeful but grounded as haven't had any more nasty stuff for a while, so just hoping and reminding myself not to count chickens!

Had my booking in appt today. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow (according to the scan where they discovered little bean).

Also got date for NT scan (4/7), which will be 3 days before our Harmony test blood draw and 5 days before another scan to see what's happening with the bean in regard to the monster fibroid!

3 scans within 5 days will be a bit bonkers but there's not much I can do as all the responsible departments work separately to each other. It will have been 3.5 weeks since we last saw bean, so it will hopefully be good to see it again.

Feeling massive and whale like as uterus is at 29 week size cos of monster fibroid. Now struggling to conceal a significant bump! Was hoping to get Harmony all done at 14 weeks before sharing, but I think my tummy is starting to out me already! :-) in one way but :-( in another, iykwim?

Anyhow, just wanted to say hi again. X

GailLondon · 20/06/2014 16:08

Hi everyone!
Just driven back from fab holiday in Holland - good to be home! Now just 2 days to get through until my 8 week scan on Sunday morning - am petrified!

I need to add myself to the stats list, how do I do that?

Enjoy Mothercare squiz, can't wait to go baby shopping, it's addictive once you start!
Glad all went well Ellis, try and relax until 12 week scan.

I'm feeling strangely fine here as the cramps have subsided, and yep you guessed, that has me worrying too. My scan is next Thursday at 6+2 then off on our well deserved holidays on the Saturday.

Waves to everyone on new thread.

My news - as of Monday last, I had my 12 week booking in scan and was still pregnant. :) I didn't realise how utterly stressed I'd been about it, until I kept bursting into tears - over DH, the midwife, the sonographer, the consultant... It's a milestone, as the last 12 week scan I made it to (in 2012), we found the baby had died at 11 weeks and I ended up having an ERPC. My belly is getting bigger, which I am taking as positive. :)

I have another scan at 14 weeks (week on Monday) and have been told by the midwives that I can ring up at any time and go for a scan and get checked if I need reassurance...

EDD was also confirmed as Christmas day! DH didn't give a shit about Xmas, he was more worried about who he could get to clean out the cattle at Xmas if I unexpectedly went in to labour! I didn't have the heart to tell him that everyone in the village would probably help out! One advantage to living in a small hamlet of 10 houses (full of doctors) and 4 farms. :)

amicablemoomin · 20/06/2014 16:51

quiet and ellis - fantastic news about the scans! quiet the 12 week is just massive isn't it? I just felt this huge wave of relief after mine last week and have been on a high ever since....I too hadn't realized how much anxiety I was holding onto that day. I have felt a load more chilled since. I mean, obviously still obsessing and worrying but not constantly - every other hour say!! Plus my energy levels have risen a bit which makes me feel more normal and am able to distract myself better by getting on with things. Good luck joosie and others with scans on the way!
