Big baby? GTT test & haematology dept referral

I had an antenatal app today to check the baby's abdominal circumference as he was measuring big at my 20 week scan.

I'm 22+6, have gone from 58kg to just 60kg in all that time. I have an anterior placenta, getting lots of movement though.

So firstly I have a slight infection in my urine. I'm constantly weeing.
Doc measured me & he said oh yes you have a big baby and that I'm measuring 24cm. He has referred me for an urgent GTT in a few weeks. I have no other markers for gestational diabetes at all.
They also have referred me to the haematology dept as my sister had DVT in her pregnancy.
I also have a growth scan at 28 weeks as my PAPP A levels were very low which can indicate a small baby.
I'm really confused!!
Does anyone have any experience of any of the above?
Thank you Smile

My DS had a really high abdominal circumference at the 20 week scan. All the measurements were on the high side - around 75th centile - but the abdominal circ was right up at the 100th centile. I was referred for a GTT at 28 weeks ish and it was negative - no gestational diabetes.

Ironically at 38 weeks I had a growth scan because my MW decided I was measuring too small! DS was 8 lb 8, so not huge but certainly not small! Still do to know why the abdominal measurement was high.

These things can be a worry but you're being checked so try not to worry.

Thanks for the reply - this baby's abdominal circ is in the 95th centile. Just getting conflicting results everywhere!
My daughter was 8lb 1 so maybe I just make bigger babies! I just don't have the big bump yet!

I know, the conflicting advice/findings just add to the normal worries, don't they!

Hope the infection clears up quickly and that the scan shows you're having a not-too-small, not-too-big baby! Sure it'll all be fine Smile

I'm just worried as I have also heard that by getting the GTT opens me up to pressure to be induced / c section? Going to have a read & have asked my midwife friend for advice!
