Did you 'have a feeling' of the gender? And panic incase you were wrong?!

Basically I really think I'm having a boy and I have no idea why
I can imagine myself with a little boy, I look at boys clothes when I'm shopping! I seem to only be able to look at boys stuff !! Even if I try to look at girls stuff I just don't like it. I feel awful and worried how I'm going to react on Wednesday if I'm told its a girl!
I have nieces who I adore, and my friends have little girls who I love and all I care about is that my baby is healthy so why do I feel like this!
Did anyone else feel the same ? Or just have a feeling and were right? I've attached scan photo too

I've been wrong twice! Was suspicious with this one as was very different to other pgs but having been wrong twice ignored my instinct (which was right).

Felt exactly the same as you do with dc1, down to clothes shopping etc. To the point I didn't even ask the sex after the birth. I was right, a little boy.

Second time around I had no such feeling. If pushed, i might have said I felt like it was more likely a girl but with no certainty. It was indeed a girl!

I don't even understand why I have this feeling! Before we conceived I always looked at little girls stuff and didn't feel like this I think that's why I've convinced myself it's a boy! I need to go into the hospital Wednesday with an empty mind I think !

I was convinced she was a girl from the second I found out I was pregnant. Fortunately I was correct as was so convinced I think I'd have needed therapy to get my head around a blue one. My friend was also convinced hers was a girl and got a gorgeous boy who wore a lot of pink in his first few weeks!

Yep, I was absolutely convinced I was having a boy. Every old lady I saw in the street/park/supermarket assured me I was definitely 'carrying a boy'. Only really thought about boys names.

Didn't find out at the anomaly scan as DH didn't want to know, and anyway I had supreme confidence in my intuition.

Imagine my surprise when DD arrived. I think I felt mildly disappointed for about five seconds, then it just seemed normal. She's nearly four now and I'm delighted with her.

FWIW, all 9 of my NCT class were certain they were having boys (nobody found out the gender beforehand). 5 of us had girls! Grin

I feel like I am having a boy. I really really want a boy, but girls clothes are much nicer, so I always look at them!

I had a feeling that both I and my step daughter would be having boys. She has found out its a boy so I have been half right!

I dont find out for another 9 weeks!!!

With my ds I just had a feeling that he was a boy (totally scientific and reliable). My first words after delivery were 'I told you it was a boy'. This time I think its a girl but based on dates not gut instinct. Only 22weeks so a long way till I find out if I am right again.

Ever since I first found out I was pregnant I just longed for a girl. No idea why, I have 2 beautiful nephews. I just had such a strong feeling it was a girl and I was so scared when I found out that if they said we were having a boy that I would cry Confused

I did indeed have a girl so I'll never know if I would have been disappointed or not. I'd like to think that for maybe a few seconds I would have been but it would have soon changed to pure joy!

I've been wrong twice. Disappointed for a day then took about 2 weeks to get excited again. Hey ho.

I've always said that bump is a girl. Everyone else said boy so I really doubted myself. When we went for 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago, I was proved that my instinct was right. In this case mum did know best. Just another 19ish weeks until I get to meet her!!

Thought I was having a girl and kind of wanted one because my parents only have grandsons, but when we found out it was a boy and we realised we were looking at our son it was an incredible feeling. Just thinking of it now makes me whell up a bit. I'm glad I found out before hand and didn't spend 9 months imagining a girl, but I'm thrilled to be having a boy.

I knew bump number 1 was a boy, just knew it ....and he was!
Had no feeling either way with Ds2.

I have three girls and a boy. I had feelings about the gender for all four pregnancies and was wrong every time.

I was sure my first baby was a boy. Felt just like the OP and only had a boys name planned. 20 week scan said boy, so we didn't even have a back up girls name just in case.

I was also sure my second baby was a boy. 20 week scan said probably. We only had a bits name. Had a private scan at 22 weeks to be sure...... Girl. Took me weeks to accept it.

That's exactly how I feel about mine only I think it's a girl. I can't pick a boys name, and am not interested in boy stuff, even though before pregnancy I wasn't bothered what we had. Now I just an certain it's a girl. I find out on Thursday if the baby plays ball!

I hope I won't be disappointed if it's a boy (not because I want a girl but because I've been imagining my girl). I'm sure I will love baby just as much no matter what, I just can't shake this instinct. I also think if I'm wrong I'll feel a sense of confusion over not knowing my body and not being able to trust my instincts.

I was sure ds was a girl and dd was boy. Hmm

My gut said boy... The scans all say girl!

I always thought I was having a DD in the early days. I am an only child, and have never been around little boys, and just could not actully imagine a boy. Then about 2 days before we got the 20 week scan I just knew it was a boy. The sonographer did not have to tell me, I knew to my very bones.

YellowYoYoYam · 15/06/2014 20:02

Yup I had gut feelings.

I thought DC1 would be a boy...wrong!

I thought DC2 was a girl...wrong again!

I read somewhere mother's instinct is correct 75% of the time, i.e., it's more accurate than someone random just guessing who will be right 50% of the time. I must just have poor mother's instinct!

Haha, I was the same as hugo and yellow, wrong both times but delighted with what I got. Pregnant again and convinced I'm having a girl so trying to think of boys names as I'm sure I'll be wrong again!

I was certain ds would be a boy and I was correct.

I'm ten weeks with this little bean and have no real feeling so far, we have lovely boys names picked out but just can't find a girls name that is right, so I don't know if that is a sign Confused

redexpat · 15/06/2014 20:42

I was certain from 10wks that DS was a boy. I am equally convinced that this one is too. Will let you know in 3 weeks or so....

Yes! Before I was pregnant I was convinced my husband would father girls. He's always liked the thought of having a girl and I could imagine is having a girl. Then I fell pregnant and from day 1 I was convinced he was a boy to the point I referred to him as he. Right enough, a boy:-)

I was convinced I was having a girl - had loads of girls names we liked and real difficulty picking out boys names. I was drawn to the girls clothes and pink bouncers and stuff, and even dreamed the baby was a girl. He wasn't! Grin I wasn't disappointed, just surprised, and I referred to him as her and she for a few weeks! Wouldn't change him for anything, he's perfect! Smile

I knew with my first DC that it would be a boy got it confirmed at 20 week scan and now have lively happy active 9 month old son..

When I got pregnant with DC2 I had the feeling it is going to be a girl. Got it confirmed at 20 week scan that it is a girl.. In 18 weeks we will find out 100% if it is a girl. Grin
