Pregnancy

Just found out!

I just found out that I am pregnant yesterday after 8 months of trying. V. excited but DH is more cautious -what if something goes wrong/ the test was wrong. When I phoned my dad he was the same -luckily my inlaws were more excited so I felt I could be a bit too.

How did you feel when you found out? How did others react?

Tried using an online due date calculator but it's a bit tricky as I have irregular cycles -waited 5 weeks after period to test this time after too many negative tests followed by a period. But that makes it 6 weeks after beginning of last period -so would I count as 6 weeks pregnant?!

I found out on monday after 2 years of trying, fertility treatment (which worked but then I miscarried), a shock diagnosis of endometriosis, surgery then BAM, natural BFP first month after surgery. I am 4 weeks and 4 days today. I have 32 day cycles so it might help to find a calculator that lets you adjust by cycle length or ovulation date. I was taking my temp so have a very good idea when I ovulated. Your period normally comes 14 days after you ovulate. Based on my LMP I am 5 weeks but because I ovulated later I'm a bit less than that. Midwife will probably still use LMP though. Hope that makes sense!

DP is very very cautious. Understandably after we've been through so much. I dont feel excited as such, more a kind of serene, calm feeling. I hope this is a good sign!

But I'm also very aware of how many things can go wrong and mourn the loss of my 'pregnany innocence' that I had with my first when I just assumed everything would be ok. I'm having an early scan this time so think I will feel more confident when I see a heartbeat.

Congratulations on your BFP! What will be will be. Try to relax and enjoy the feeling.

X

Hi ladies, congrats to you all! Finally lovely to be posting on a pregnancy thread! I found out on Thursday but had a little suspicion as have had headaches, sore boobs & dizziness for past week! I'm 4.3 today but very nervous as had a mc at 6 wks in April. Taking each day as it comes, but relieved to read that cramps is normal as I've had a few today.
Here's to very healthy, uneventful pregnancies!

Congratulations to all of you who have also just found out!
Husband's mood has changed today and he's decided to fuss about everything! At least I'm making him clean out the cat litter but I can't eat or drink anything without him querying whether I can have it when pregnant. Can he keep this up for the next 8 months?

Ooh congratulations!

Let yourself be excited just be prepared for things potentially going wrong. The 12 week wait was agonising after an mmc but luckily I'm now awaiting my 20 week scan on Thursday :D

Remember that cramps like mild - moderate period pains are normal, and is a stretchy feeling. But seek advice if you get severe or stabbing pains. You may get severe wind pain which can be worrying and hurt a hell of a lot more than you think wind
should but you can usually tell the difference.
Bleeding could be a bad sign but it might be ok, I had pink spotting and even some bright red blood between 6 and 7 weeks and had an early scan and everything was fine :)

Thanks Alita7 Grin

I am getting pretty bad cramps and have been thinking for the past 2 weeks 'why are these cramps not turning into a period!' Now I know why!

Yes, I'm not getting too excited yet. No mc before (sorry to hear for you must have been very hard) but this is literally the first month we've ever tried so wasn't expecting anything to happen this quickly.

Also just reading up on all the foods (and drinks) to avoid and have realised I have not avoided any of them for the last two weeks because I was so convinced the cramps were period pains - I had crab on Wednesday, goats cheese and rare meat yesterday - slightly concerned!

And World Cup madness was really a bad time to fall pregnant but am gonna totally stop drinking now. Worst pregnant person ever

Can I join in? Also just found out that I'm expecting 15th feb, Dh is over the moon but I still can't quite believe it as I had mc last year, I'm getting morning sickness so feeling slightly more relaxed, but won't be taking any risks full stop. No booze, no medicines without gps approval, avoiding all foods that you shouldn't eat.
Will feel more confident after 12 wk scan but thats 6/7 weeks away so going to wrap myself in cotton wool between now and then!

Congrats to you who have just joined! It's very exciting albeit a bit nervewrecking!
I'm 4.5 today. Last week I was in bed for the week with a throat infection. The doc said that I could take paracetamol. I took them for the guts of a week. This week I've not been feeling as dizzy or haven't had headaches like I had before then. Even though I'm extremely bloated, I haven't had any other pregnancy symptoms the past couple of days. Even though the doc said it was fine, I wanted to ask you lovely ladies your opinions on taking paracetamol during early pregnancy. I'm all paranoid now!

Hi all, I found out this morning too! Don't want to tell people too soon but am a terrible liar - am dreading it!

Paracetamol is fine in pregnancy. I think you are supposed to avoid ibuprofen though.
