Feeling your pain. Am 41 + 3 induction booked for Friday, if convenient for hospital. Tried all old wives tales had 2 sweeps and third booked tomorrow along with another session of reflexology. Really want to avoid induction after difficult birth with 1 for dd1 3 years ago. Can't even think I'll have baby by X date as this hospital (burnley)apparently just take you in for monitoring at 42 weeks then decide what to do as they go. Honestly don't think baby ready ( I was born 43+1 ) but starting to feel completely mad, like it's never coming out!

It's a bit too close to due date to help you this time, but I've learnt to use some psychology on myself when it comes to "late" babies (I don't believe any babies are late, some just take longer to be ready).

I was +13 days with DC1
+8 days with DC2
+23 (!) days with DC3

I am currently pregnant and although my 'official' due date is 15th September, whenever I am asked I always say "20-something-th of September", or just "some time in September, probably".

I have no intention of focusing on due date since I know I always carry for at least 41 weeks.

Knowing my luck though, this one will shock me and do something like arriving early! We'll see tho. Good luck.

Were you induced at all waffle?

I'm 40 +13 and going stir crazy too....I was early with dc1, then 14 days late with dc2 and it's even worse the waiting this time. I've got through half term so I suppose it will come this week, be it naturally or an induction in a hospital. I've tried everything...ball, sex, curry, clary sage oil, evening primes oil, pltafoma (can't spell that one), hands and knees for hours, only letting myself sleep on my left just in case I knock it out of position on my right; and I've had five sweeps...all in all this baby is firmly saying NO!
Midwife is due any minute now and I've no idea what she has planned to say to me to help me get on with giving birth but I'm hoping she has a magic wand or something to help me out of this limbo!

Go for a long fast walk, dd3 wasn't due for another 2 weeks but I was having a sweep on the Monday and induction in the Tuesday (GD) so on the sat I went for a monster power walk just to get things going and the next day my pains started at 10am, walked around all day cleaning. Got to the hosp and she was her within 15 mins. I honestly believe it was because of walking around in a square for 40 minutes. Good luck!

Honestly? You aren't 'over', term is 37-42. Try and focus on mental acceptance, because there is no magic way to make a baby come until it is ready (my latest was +13 though, so I do sympathise).

Hi mummyamanda3

Wasn't induced for any.

I was due to be induced with DC1, but went into natural labour the day of induction. No need with DC2 since he was only +8 (induction is at +12 here).

With DC3 I refused induction, which in itself was very stressful but I was certain that baby would arrive when ready. They had moved my due date by -8 days which meant that the official +23 days that I went was actually +15 because I knew that my dates were right. I went into natural labour +14 days (according to my date, which was +22 days from my official scan date), which was my limit for waiting.

p.s I regularly did 2.5 mile walks for the school run when 40 weeks plus, didn't make a blind bit of difference. Exercise is good for you, so no down side if you feel well enough though. Smile

I was induced at 42+4 with ds1. He finally arrived the next day and really didn't look all that overdue. I think my dates were wrong!

41+3 today.. nothing really to say except it's nice to find some others in the same boat! Sending you all labour inducing thoughts.

Anyone else fed up with the 'any news' messages?!

Report
IwishIwasmoreorganised · 02/06/2014 21:27

Argh! Those messages!

My replies went from 'nope, nothing yet' to a sarcastic 'oh yeah - he arrived last week and we forgot to tell you' and everything inbetween!

Ah, see I am now a pro on being late. Grin No one except DH and my mum (our childcare) knew the date. I was 13 days over and i was sooooo pleased not to be pestered.

Now I would seriously consider a fake date for the next one.. if I ever get this one out..

Report
hartmel · 03/06/2014 04:00

With my first I didn't really tell anyone the due date except our parents. All others just heard "it is due some time in September" and now with DC2 same thing except due date is October..

Book a pedicure if you have any spare cash. Wonderful to have pretty feet when the baby is born & you don't have time & when they massage your feet it's like reflexology. Good luck ladies!

Oh my goodness yes the silly "where's the baby" questions from people once you go past 40 weeks "in my effong tummy!"!

I had a really long walk (1 hour 45 minutes) and went into labour a day later, I really think it helped. Ultimately the baby will arrive when it wants to! Just try to sleep and enjoy a long bath:

I've stopped ringing anyone except dh - can't bear the 'isthis THE phone call question'. Reflexology
and sweep today and then nothing I can do. Just arranged to spend a couple of days with dd seeing close friends.

I'm in hospital waiting for this crappy induction process to begin. Got here at 8.30 and it's nearly 11am and all I've been told is that it's a long wait...oh no, they're not going to be able to do me today so I'm being sent home, and will be in tomorrow to see if it's a better day. GuttedHmm. I'm a low risk and they've far more high risk inductions to be done...why can't I be high risk? Damn it!
