Hi, I think I have just had my positive ? after not getting AF 9 days ago... But I have spent the weekend celebrating my sister's wedding and now I am really really scared I have hurt my bean with all the champagne. There seems so be so much conflicting research! Are there any tests I can have done a little further down the line?! Sorry to vent my worries..

Congrats! Now, stop worrying. This happens to everyone (almost). I had several boozy nights out before realizing I was pregnant and dd is absolutely fine. Alcohol in v early pregnancy won't affect your baby.

As tertle said it happens to loads of us. I got monstrously drunk before I got my positive at around the time I was 4ish weeks. I'm now carrying a healthy baby and i'm 32 weeks+1. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about Smile

I'm in the same boat - drank half a bottle of champagne on friday night, BFP on saturday having given up hope for this month after multiple BFNs. I spoke to a doctor friend who tells me it will be fine!

I drank a good few large glasses of wine before finding out.

was briefly worried but there's nothing I can actually do about it.

as long as you go teetotal from now it's reet.

and congratulations :)

It's extremely likely, going by the dates and what we got up to, that DS1 was conceived on Christmas day. Poor little bean clung on through boozy boxing day, boozy NYE, etc.

Everyone I speak to has similar stories though! You can only do what you can. As long as you have cut out drinking now then hopefully once you have your scans then you can stop worrying. Smile

I had a boozy New York holiday (and ate lots of pate, rare meat and naughty cheese) in the early days of pregnancy before I tested. Now 22+3 with a squirmy and healthy baby boy Smile don't worry!

My baby was conceived on an all inclusive honeymoon where cocktails and wine were 'free'.. nuff said. Happens almost everyone.

A friend of mine now has a completely perfect 2 yr old girl, she only found out she was pregnant at 18 weeks (had been getting bleeds, etc etc)- she had spent a week in dubai and a week in ibiza (IBIZA!!!!!!!!!) during that time. She was in the horrors as you can imagine, but her little girls is absolutely perfect.

next time i think i will give up booze while we are TTC though, all of that said!

I found out the day after I returned from my honeymoon. Also September is a busy month for births apparently. So think how many must be conceived over Christmas! Don't worry about it. A friend of mine found out a day or two after her hen night and she was 6 or 7 weeks already. Her daughter is very fine indeed.

I posted a similar thread having fallen pregnant in December and would just like to reinforce all that's been said. I have had both scans and my little peanut looks to be progressing normally. I'm 25 weeks tomorrow, getting kicked a lot, and on holiday having our 'babymoon'. My worry now is the cheesy ravioli I just ate! The main thing is stop drinking now (which I'm sure you have) and don't stress over the wedding. Good luck with your little bean xxx

For the very early weeks the baby is just a ball of cells and doesn't share your blood yet. Just follow recommendations from now on!

Women who sadly end up with damaged babies usually drink like that regularly for the whole time. People have different tolerances so they say NO booze, but a few glasses before you test is quite normal, most women are in that scenario and they/their babies are none the worse.

You lot are awesome. Thank you so much for making me feel better! Just keeping my fingers very very crossed that this was a positive and I can spend the next few months cultivating my bean ?

There is plenty unplanned pregnancies where the mother has drank without knowing and the baby is perfectly fine. I know there is risks but IMO it must be a small percentage from what I've seen so I would try not worry too much :)

I got my bfp on Friday and I also think shit, I went to a party and drank, but I was also on anti-biotics because I didn't know. I will mention it to midwife but I'm sure everything will be ok xx
